Sugar Showdown Seattle presented by SAS: Celebrating 7 Years of Women’s Ridestyle

 

Sugar Showdown Women’s Mountain Bike Clinic & Competition is now a bronze level event in the Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour - a stop in the inaugural series of the Women’s Slopestyle Tour

Where: Duthie Hill Park, Issaquah, WA

Breaking barriers and empowering female athletes, Sugar Showdown Seattle is not your typical mountain biking event. Professional coaches and slopestyle jumpers from across North America will gather for the 8th Annual Sugar Showdown at the world-renowned Duthie Hill Mountain Bike Park on July 5th to 7th, 2019.  This year’s Showdown is part of the inaugural series of the Women’s Slopestyle Tour (WST) and a tour stop in the Freeride Mountain Bike (FMB) World tour calendar as a bronze level competition enabling female riders to, for the first time ever, accrue points in the FMB World Tour ranking system.  

Sugar Showdown strives to empower women and kids though instilling self-confidence, resilience and solidarity on and off the bike. Amateur riders will be coached through riding skills in order to compete with each other on the second day. Sunday, July 7, amateur to pro-level riders will test their abilities in this one-day competition based on form and style. Pro-riders will compete for points in the FMB world ranking system. This year’s Sugar Showdown will showcase competitive mountain biking for local spectators and fans alike and is sure to make its mark in for women in sports everywhere.

ABOUT Freeride Mountain Bike Association

The Freeride Mountain Bike Association (FMBA) is the world governing body for the sport of freeride mountain biking. The FMBA was founded in 2010 and is registered as a non-profit organization in Munich, Germany. The FMBA promotes Mountain Bike Freeride Sports which comprises the development, governance and structure for freeride disciplines: Dirt Jump, Park, Slopestyle, and Big Mountain. ABOUT FMB WORLD TOUR 

The FMB World Tour is the official international circuit of amateur and professional FMB competitions in the disciplines Dirt Jump, Big Air, Slopestyle and Big Mountain governed by FMBA. The FMBA sanctions events, which are part of the FMB World Tour, in four different categories: Diamond, Gold, Silver and Bronze. The Crankworx FMBA Slopestyle World Championship (SWC) is the highest echelon of the Slopestyle sport and determines the annual Slopestyle World Champion. Athletes must compete at Diamond, Gold, Silver and Bronze events on the FMB World Tour, collecting points for the FMB World Ranking, in order to qualify for the SWC. The FMB World Ranking is a roll-over ranking system which considers the three best results of each athlete in the past 52 weeks.
