Just one week after the World Championships in Canada,
our athletes had to get rid of their jet lag and be ready for the finals of the
IXS European Cup in Châtel.
Perfect weather combined with a super fun race
track in Châtel helped for a very nice atmosphere on the whole
weekend.
Our athletes enjoyed racing with a little less pressure than at
the world championships, but obviously, they went flat out when it counted. The
moisture in the morning and in the evening, as well as the warm sun in the
afternoon changed the conditions in almost every run and made things quite
tricky.
Nick Beer was able to handle all the conditions well. Winning
both, saturdays qualifier and sundays finals, brought him enough points to win
the overall title of the IXS European Cup!
Floriane Pugin did it the same
way and won the qualifier as well as the finals. Since she hadn't raced enough
races of the series, the overall title was not in reach.
Freddy Hunziker
was third Junior in the Elite field. Being first swiss junior should motivate
him for next weekends swiss championships in Zermatt.
