GSTAAD, SWITZERLAND (February 4, 2012):  Fantastic news from the SCOTT Sports racing department, fresh out of the snow: The international mountain bike downhill SCOTT11 teams up with the highly recognized alpine destination of Gstaad Saanenland.  The team from now on is named GSTAAD-SCOTT. Gstaad’s commitment to develop an entirely new bike destination concept makes this partnership even more exciting.

This partnership is not just a coincidence, but a well thought puzzle: SCOTT as the leading bike brand with exactly the right products to fit into the existing bike concept of Gstaad Saanenland Tourism, is a natural fit. Plus, the network behind SCOTT with Sébastien Giraldi, Ben Walker and Velosolutions will bring in a lot of experience in trail building and bike park management.

GSTAAD-SCOTT continues to attack in the downhill world cup with its athletes Brendan Fairclough, Emilie Siegenthaler, Noel Niederberger, Floriane Pugin and 4X riders Adrian Weiss and Mirco Weiss. French youngster Patrick Thome has just teamed up with the squad. Former downhill pro Cyril Langeau, who was a team mate of manager Claudio Caluori back in 2002, is joining the team as sportive director.
With Gstaad as the new team base, Brendan Fairclough is considering a new career as a skier….

Same as it was for SCOTT11, it is one of GSTAAD-SCOTT’s principles to promote young riders in Switzerland. Therefore, we are happy to announce that the support of Gstaad Saanenland allows us to have a development team with Felix Klee, Pascal Tinner, Dominic Tinner, Manuel Marty and Tim Kälin under the same roof.

GSTAAD-SCOTT keeps pushing the limits with its long time sponsors DT Swiss, Schwalbe, SHIMANO, FOX Racing Shox, Syncros and e*thirteen chain guides. Red Bull will make sure that those limits will be set higher and higher. Big thanks to the continuous support of AWEKA AG. The signing of the contract with the director of Gstaad Saanenland Tourism, Martin Bachofner and Team Manager Claudio Caluori took place right Gstaad's ski slopes.

To get a feeling for their new home base, GSTAAD-SCOTT spent a few days on and off the slopes around Gstaad, enjoying perfect powder conditions and Brendan Fairclough’s specific “English skiing style”.

The season kickoff for GSTAAD-SCOTT was the Greenhouse Pumptrack race in Bern, Switzerland just one week ago in which Noel Niederberger was placed second. The junior only was 4/100 sec behind 4X world champ Roger Rinderknecht, leaving Michal Prokop, Joost Wichmann, Cedric Gracia and team mate Brendan behind.

New team member Patrick Thome invited Gstaad-Scott to his home trails in southern France for the first tests of the 2013 team Gamblers.
