Press Release: Angel Fire Resort To Host 2nd Annual Freeride Festival

Non-Competitive Mountain Bike Event Open to All: Beer, Bikes, Live Music, and a Clay Porter Productions Movie Premiere

ANGEL FIRE, NM – Angel Fire Resort is hosting the 2nd annual Freeride Festival August 19 – 21, 2011.  The event will offer live music, beer and a chance to mountain bike the area in a non-competitive, fun, festival environment.  The weekend will include open rides, equipment demonstrations, skills training sessions and several competitions. The three-day event will also include family friendly races, contests and a Little Tikes Terrain Park.

“This is a fun way for us to celebrate the great summer season up here at Angel Fire Resort and it provides the perfect backdrop to come try out the bike park,” explains Hogan Koesis, Bike Park Manager, Angel Fire Resort. “While the festival will offer fun races and will award the winners, it will be done in a stress free environment so it allows pro riders and novices the opportunity to just come up and ride the mountain and enjoy the sport.

The festival will offer events for everyone to watch or participate in including a best-dressed dog costume contest, a long jump contest, a short track mini DH race, a scavenger hunt and a foot-down competition. For the first time Angel Fire Bike Park has built a Little Tikes Terrain Park and will provide push bikes to encourage little ones to try out the park as well.  Live music will be provided by the band, The Strange, and a free after-party for those 21 and over inside the beer garden hosted by Santa Fe Brewing Company. On Saturday night a special movie screening of “3 Minute Gaps” by Clay Porter will be shown on the base area deck.

The lifts will open daily at 9 AM and daily contests and awards will be given out for the fastest and most stylish runs. Project 101.5 Radio station will be doing live remotes over the weekend.

A special Freeride Festival lodging rate is available for $49 for double occupancy in a standard room in the Lodge, steps away from the event.  To participate in Freeride Festival activities you must show a full-day bike park ticket or a 2011 Gravity Pass.
