Cody Kelley, Cooper Ott Take Final Round of SCOTT Enduro Cup at Deer Valley Resort

PARK CITY, UT (Aug. 26, 2018) - The final round of the 2018 SCOTT Enduro Cup presented by Vittoria came to a close with pristine trail conditions at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, UT. Cody Kelley took first place in the Pro/Open Men’s division while Cooper Ott stood on the top step in the Pro/Open Women’s division.

Ott and Chris Boice were crowned overall winners for the 2018 season. Ott nearly came away with the clean sweep after placing first at Park City, Powderhorn, Angel Fire and taking third in Moab. Boice was no stranger to the podium, laying down consistently strong performances with a second place finish at Park City and Powderhorn, fourth at Angel Fire and third at Moab.

“It feels good to take the overall win. It was definitely surprising how hard it was to fight Cody [Kelley] off,” Boice said. “I’m happy to be on the podium every round. It’s a good time, good vibe at the series.”

After winning the 2017 overall series title, Kelley put together another impressive run - winning the final round by 45 seconds and claiming second in the overall series.

“We had a bit of rain yesterday and it made for some hero dirt on the first couple of stages. Sick race,” Kelley said. “Park City is all-time riding. Dirt is good usually all summer long. Bit of powder, bit of loam, bit of rock. It’s just good, unique riding here.”

Park City native, Parker Degray, 19-year-old Teddy Jaramillo and SCOTT athlete Stan Jorgensen rounded out the top-five in Pro/Open Men’s. Jorgensen, Quinn Reece and Jaramillo finished third, fourth and fifth respectively in the overall season series.

“This whole series is really fun because it encompasses a lot of different riding styles,” Jorgensen said. “I think it makes an even playing field for all of the riders. To be able to travel the series and see all the different events is really fun.”

“I’m definitely the most stoked for this kid I coach out of New Mexico, his first-ever pro podium, named Teddy Jaramillo,” Boice added. “To see him up there is sick.”

Women’s Pro/Open Final Results

1. Cooper Ott – 36:09.850 – Crested Butte, CO

2. Lia Westermann – 36:17.501 – Salt Lake City, UT

3. Angelica Ramirez – 36:31.501 – Salt Lake City, UT

4. Stefanie McDaniel – 38:01.498 – Phoenix, AZ

5. Abby Strigel – 38:44.268 – Madison, WI

Ott finished the season with three straight first-place finishes to claim the top spot at Park City and win the overall series.

“The overall was awesome. It’s good to race four different races in four completely different areas and different types of terrain,” Ott said. “To come out, maybe didn’t start the season out quite as I wanted to, but pull it out for the last three. The women that come to these races, they’re coming to most of them, and it’s always a really strong field.”

Not far behind was Utah local Lia Westermann, who used a trio of second place finishes, including one this weekend in Park City, and a bronze finish, to take second in the 2018 overall series.

Crowds and cowbells were out in full-force cheering and heckling riders as they descended over 6,000 vertical feet over two days.

“I feel like it makes me focus a lot more, when everyone is cheering you on,” Westermann said. “You hear your name, don’t really see much because you’re focused on the trail, but it helps out a lot. I love it.”

Angelica Ramirez, Stefanie McDaniel and Abby Strigel capped the top-five. Ileana Anderson, McDaniel and Ramirez finished third, fourth and fifth respectively in the overall season series.

“I just love Deer Valley Resort, in general. Definitely one of my favorite stops of the SCOTT Enduro Cup,” McDaniel said. “Just in general, the technical riding here, the roots and everything, it’s not like anything we have in Phoenix, so definitely fun to flow these trails and actually have some awesome descents.”
