BikeYoke Launches the REVIVE MAX Dropper 20
World's first dedicated 34.9 dropper post with up to 185mm drop.

When Vital tested the original BikeYoke Revive, we were won over by its smooth operation, long travel, low weight, and of course above all the unique "reset" function which allows for quick and easy bleeding of the internal hydraulics without having to open up the post. In fact, the Revive put in such a good performance that it walked away with first place in our comprehensive 2017 dropper post Face Off. Today, BikeYoke is announcing a new version for the 34.9mm seat tube standard, which seems to be set on a course to increasing popularity. Time will tell just how popular it will prove to be, but in the meantime it is certainly refreshing to see how much effort BikeYoke continues to put into their small but growing range of quality products. Full press release and more details from the company below:
Why bother with a shim-adapted dropper post in a high end frame like the new Specialized Enduro, EVIL Wreckoning, Pyga Hyrax or Slakline, Liteville and the likes? One should not forget, that many more bikes with 34.9mm seattubes are not unlikely to come, since - yes, undoubtedly - especially E-Bikes with more critical requirements in terms of legal testing reports will greatly benefit from the strength gain. Until now there was no dedicated 34.9mm dropper post available, that had various travel options with up to 185mm of travel. While there have been some brands with 34.9 options, all of them are based on their regular sized siblings with original upper tube diameter. Which means: Those droppers just used a bigger lower tube and kept the general design unchanged. More space inside the seattube comes along with huge possibilities to make the post stronger, stiffer, smoother, but other post designs fail to take advantage of those circumstances. However, the biggest design flaw - in our opinion – is, that those small/regular upper tubes would not really want to match with the oversized seattubes. A bike of this price range deserves a properly designed and good-looking post. Period. To be fair: There is one dedicated 34.9 post with an oversized upper tube, Specialized ́s newest creation. However, this post only offers 115mm of tube travel.
BikeYoke now proudly presents the world ́s first dedicated 34.9 dropper post, which was solely and completely designed for the oversized seattubes. REVIVE MAX features a 28mm stanchion (original REVIVE 25mm), optimized wall thicknesses, increased bushing strength, while keeping the market ́s shortest stack height and extremely low overall length/ travel ratio as it is already featured by its smaller REVIVE siblings. This minimizes the weight penalty to less than 50g, compared to a (160/31.6), resulting in a total weight of 590g for the post only, which is still lower than many competitors with less travel and smaller diameter. One should not forget, that the added weight is even less, considering, there is now no more need for an extra shim inside the seattube. Of course, all REVIVE MAX posts will come with the latest revision of our patented instant reset function, and integrated quick-reset lever.
Post weights:
- 125/34.9: 530g
- 160/34.9: 590g
- 185/34.9: 630g.
Triggy remote weights:
- Triggy without clamp (direct mount): 23g
- Triggy including clamp: 36g
MSRP (including Triggy remote):
- 125/34.9: 455 US$
- 160/34.9: 479 US$
- 185/34.9: 499 US$
REVIVE MAX will start shipping by middle of March to our dealers and distributors and end consumers. Pre-orders from www.bikeyoke.com are starting now and will come with a free Titanium bolt upgrade, when ordered before March 15.
NEW I-Spec Options for Remote Mounting
Another nice feature of our REVIVE is the possibility to attach the Triggy remote directly to SRAM, Magura, Hope, Formula brakes via their specific direct mount options (e.g SRAM Matchmaker, Magura Shiftmix, Formula Mixmaster, ...). Our Triggy uses the same interface as SRAM triggers, which means, you can mount it directly to any Matchmaker compatible brake lever. Shimano brake levers can be mated with BikeYoke's I-Spec adapters, which are available for left (Triggy) and right side (SRAM Trigger) to get rid of extra clamps and keep the cockpit clean.

Great, just when most brands seem to be settling on 31.6 as a standard, some bored product manager decides it's time to hype 34.9. So sick of this greedy industry hellbent on f*cking riders out of cross-compatibility at every possible turn!
I already have Revives on my other bikes, but I can’t wait to get one for my 2018 Enduro
The fatter tubing looks far better than the skinny stanchions used in 30.9 and 31.6 dropper posts. I'd love one!
I have the 30.9 Revive and while I have not been able to ride it yet, the anodization on the stanchion did not survive the first encounter with my LBS's work stand. Disappointing.
I'd be disappointed with my LBS.
I never said the direction my disappointed was directed, but thanks for telling me how I should feel ...jk...honestly when I picked up the bike and saw it I just shrugged it off because it is likely the shops fault but shit happens and these guys are all friends of mine so no way I'm I going to make them sweat over it after 17 years of great service. Brand new fancy-ass, counter-weighted work stands btw.
Sacki from BikeYoke here:
Sorry, but this is not normal. What kind of clamp did you use? Hard anodizing can normally not come off from clamping in a regular work stand clamp at the very the first time. I am really curious. It would be cool to get some pictures of that.
I have a 30.9 revive in 160mm stroke. I’ve clamped it in my own (wrench force) stand many times without any damage. I’m tempted to replace mine with a 185mm unit as I have the room but I’m finding it hard to justify spending the $ for something that has essentially been problem-free from day one.
If I have one thing I’d change about this post it’d be that bikeyoke add height reference marks on the lower/outer tube.
@rubber_ducky and @shawn_trudell. Thanks for the clarification guys. I got a little ahead of myself. However, they still missed the GT's and Cannondales that were making that size tube a long time ago.
Well you on the other hand then missed Scott which put 34,9 mm seat tubes on their 2005 Scale XC racer... If you want to go back in time to where the whole thing started. And even that likely is not the beginning.
@hansolo, I think they are referencing that this is the first post dedicated to be built 34.9, not sharing parts bin stuff with 31.8 and 27.2 posts in the lineup. They mention that this post uses a bigger and heavier stancion which the thinner posts do not use.
KS has been making dedicated 34.9 seat posts for over 3 years and and spec'd on Cannondales and GT's for at least that long with 34.9 seat tubes. You should really do your research before posting nonsense about innovations and new standards. Evil Bikes have also had 34.9 seat tubes since the inception of the Wreckoning.
I am sorry, but why son ranty? We never said, we were the first ones to do 34.9 droppers. But we are the first ones, to design them dedicatedly for 34.9 seattubes and with long travel. Other posts are basically just adapted smaller diameter versions. It is even clearly mentioned in our text. Not sure, why you blame us or Vital for not having done "our research". People in glass houses....
Take it easy Mr Hou or Sacki, I admitted to getting ahead of myself up above.
I think that you’re misunderstanding what bikeyoke are saying in the PR. They’re not saying that they have the first dropper to fit a 34.9 seattube without a shim.
I just think it's so great. Yay. Magnums for all. Feels so good and fulfilling.
With seat posts becoming longer and longer, this is a logical standard that I think more bike and dropper companies should follow. Kind of crazy to think that our seat posts have the same amount of travel if not more than our suspension
I think the new 34.9 seatpost standard needs a name. Let's see: Boost Post? Plus Shaft? Max Girth?.... wait a minute, I got it: Magnum
Girth Brooks?
Less we forget GT had 34.9mm posts in 2013 on the 2014 Sensor and Force. That size never really took flight. Surprised evil and specialized decided to do it at all.
