We had to sadly say goodbye to Rachel’s loyal mechanic Andy Lund in September as he sets his sights on a new venture in North Wales. Which only means one thing… we’re hiring.

Have you got what it takes to become a World Class technician on the Worlds number one downhill team? Maybe you’re already on the scene or have been wanting to take the step up to working on the race circuit, or perhaps you have an engineering background and can bring a different approach to the sport.

World Cup Technician – Atherton Racing

Job Description

Assisting the current team mechanics you will be an integral part of the team ensuring the race and support equipment are performing to the best of their ability.

Based at the teams head quarters near Oswestry, Shropshire the technician will help maintain and develop testing, stock control and logistic systems, which will improve the teams performance.

The position is full time for the busy race season (March-October) where the candidate and his senior technicians will offer on site support at venues all over the World. With mechanic skills to a World class level the technician will ensure the state of the art bikes are kept running perfectly.

Away from races the candidate will help manage the team workshop and assist on event planning.

List Of Duties

  • Maintain race bikes to a World class level
  • Help manage onsite stock and pit area
  • Assist in organising European travel
  • Drive race vehicles to and from events
  • Help maintain the fleet of team bikes
  • Assist in the stock control of tools and spares
  • Assist sponsors on dedicated testing sessions
  • Assist the team director in improving the race program
  • Airport drop off/pick ups
  • Assist in the set up and planning team events
  • Contribute articles to the team website and similar press
  • Partake in regular media interviews
  • Assist the retail division of Atherton Racing
  • Some office duties

Job Specification

  • World Class mechanic skills, to include brake bleeding, wheel building ( Can be taught if you can prove you have similar skills from another industry)
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Ability to drive long distances in foreign countries
  • Good computer skills
  • Excellent communication
  • Extremely well organised and tidy nature
  • Patient and understanding temperament
  • Willingness to live on the road for up to 6 weeks
  • Hard working mentality
  • Full driving license

Job Location

  • Team HQ – Llanrhadear, Powys
  • On site – UCI Downhill World Cup and selected National races

Salary Range

£16,000 – £22,000 pro rata depending on candidate
