Junior Downhill Mountain Bike World Champions were crowned today in Fort William, Scotland. Weather conditions were fair and overcast as young mountain bike racers from all over the globe battled the clock and the unrelenting Fort William course in the chase for the coveted rainbow jersey. The World Championships is a one-day, winner-take-all race in which riders represent their home country.
New Zealand dominated the Junior women's class with a 1-2-3 sweep. Erice Van Leuven was the untouchable rider today, over five seconds ahead of Poppy Lane in 2nd place. Sacha Earnest rounded out third for the Kiwis.
Germany takes the Junior Men's victory as Henri Kiefer edges out Bodhi Kuhn by just .4 seconds. Fastest qualifier and #USDH shredder, Ryan Pinkerton, was listed as a DNS.
