Gee and Rachel Atherton continue to assert their dominance with top qualifying times at the UCI World Cup Downhill in Hafjell, Norway. The brother and sister duo squeaked into the 1st place positions of the Elite categories by the slimmest of margins.

Mick Hannah, applied the pressure in the Elite Men's class, fastest through the first two splits, and was off Gee's winning pace by only .11-seconds. The top 10 Elite Men were separated by less than 5-seconds.

Emmeline Ragot nipped at Rachel's heels in the Elite Women's class, less than 1-second off the top time and Innes Graham was fastest in the seeding run for highly competitive Junior Men's class.

The Hafjell, Norway downhill course was first used in 2012. As a new course, it was considerably slower and softer than the conditions experienced this weekend. Speeds of over 70kph have been reached as the racers slingshot themselves through rough, natural rock gardens and over large jumps and injury plagued the fields of riders during the first day of practice.
