Results: Jack Moir Wins EWS Pro Stage, Richie Rude Disqualified for Course Cutting 23

The 2021 title race comes to an anti-climactic end.

After a long and hard-fought battle all season long, it all came down to the last race with only 70 points separating Jack Moir and Richie Rude in the overall standings. The race kicked off today with the Pro Stage, where the two protagonists crossed the line in the lead and separated by just a few seconds, as we have been accustomed to all year long. However, the commissaires found that two riders had failed to stay within the course markings, and one of those riders was Richie Rude. The penalty imposed by the rules is disqualification, and just like, Richie's race is done, and so in the title race. We congratulate both athletes on an incredible season and thank them for the show they have put on for us while chasing after that world title. We're sure Jack would have preferred to win it in a straight up head-to-head fight tomorrow, but that will be a rain check for now.

In the women's race, local lass Bex Baraona took the win, just a couple of seconds ahead of Noga Korem. Series leader Melanie Pugin finished in 13th place, some 12 seconds off the pace, while Morganne Charre came in 4th, a bit closer to the pointy end of the results. Whether this will spice up the title race remains to be seen, as Melanie holds quite a comfortable points advantage coming into this race. Tune in tomorrow to find out how it all plays out!
