Rachel Atherton Suffers Achilles Tendon Injury at Les Gets

Winner of the last World Cup Downhill Mountain Bike race in Andorra, Rachel Atherton, is out of the race and possibly more after an Achilles tendon injury sustained during practice at the Les Gets, France, World Cup. She landed flat off the last jump near the finish line and her foot and leg took the hit, resulting in an injury. She will fly home to recover and get a more thorough look at the tendon. Sven Martin reported that shortly before her injury, Rachel jumped farther than any other woman in the unofficial Vital #LesGetsLongJump contest (held on another jump). We wish her a strong recovery and will update as we get more news.
