Race Report: ODI/Trek Satellite Racing Fontana 3

We always look forward to the Fontana National, as it's a hometown race that brings lots of "Out-of-Towners." It's cool to see the pits with new rigs, including the new ODI / TREK team trailer!

This year's schedule was condensed into Saturday / Sunday only, with the Super D race Saturday, and the DH race Sunday. The team has been training hard, and we were all looking for solid results!

Super D / Enduro specialist Jon Buckell has been turning heads all year, and he came in ready to continue his podium performances. Saturday's practice went as planned, and Buckell was ready to throw down for the 2 run / combined time format. Competition was stiff with multi world/national champion and ODI rider Brian Lopes in attendance. After the first run, Buckell clocked the 3rd fastest time, only 5 seconds off Lopes. His second run was equally consistent, 3rd fastest, giving him 3rd overall! Putting his ODI backed TREK Remedy back up on the podium!

Sunday was DH day! With the threat of rain, all eyes were on the skies for most of the day. The morning practice was dry and the course was taking a beating! On Saturday, Coach Aaron Gwin came out to give the riders some help with the fast lines! The vibe after Sunday's practice session was positive, and each rider was amped for their final run! As the riders headed up for the final, the rain began to fall. With the conditions being so dry prior to the rain, it was basically making the course better with more traction. The Jr. Riders went off first, with Jason Schroeder first up. Schroeder had a ripping run to take 1st in the Cat 1 18&under class. Charlie Harrison was up next and had his best finish of the year taking 6th place. Matt Branney came through with another top ten result taking 9th on the day. Jon Buckell came through with an 8th place, and Rich Houseman rounded out the weekend in 17th place.

A great weekend of racing, and we are all looking forward to the next event up in Port Angeles, WA!
