RESULTS and REPLAY - Red Bull Joyride Slopestyle at Crankworx Whistler

Tech moves, huge moves and never a let-down.

The 2022 Red Bull Slopestyle event at Whistler Bike Park went off this evening in front of a massive in-person crowd and online watching live. Thousands of fans packed Whistler Village and the Boneyard, surrounding the massive jumps, drops and obstacles to watch 15 of the world's best MTB slopestyle riders take two runs in a bid for glory.

The level of competition and what has become "stock" tricks is mind-blowing anymore with multiple double backflips by various riders, twisters (a 1080 cash roll), front-flip triple barspins, opposite 360 double tailwhips, half-cab barspins and other indecipherable technical maneuvers taking place tonight.

Emil Johansson took the win tonight with his signature technical wizardry, opposite and switch combos and stylish performance. This was his 8th Crankworx Series Slopestyle win in a row. Emil's first run was enough to seal the deal with a 94.00 that could not be bested by the rest of the field during their 2nd runs.

Timothe Bringer certainly brought 'er tonight with a litany of big, technical maneuvers and earned 2nd place by just 1 point over fellow Frenchman, Tomas Lemoine. It's not hard to argue that the move of the event that came from Tomas Lemoine. In an ode to Timo Pritzel circa 2004, Lemoine jumped the entire finish feature, sprinting into it from the quarter pipe, squashing the curved transition to hit the flat up-ramp, catapulting himself over the entire wooden drop touching down on the dirt landing below it. He had attempted this once earlier in practice and detonated upon impact, but pulled it off not once, but twice tonight during finals. This flight into space along with a big bag of tricks higher up the course like a double backflip into a cash roll on the four-pack solidified his 3rd place position.
