RESULTS - World Cup DH Leogang Timed Runs 5

The track is soaked, the mud is thick. It must be a World Cup race.

It's fair to say that rain and slick track conditions at the first UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Downhill of 2021 made the timed training session a less-than-precision affair. Weather for the Austrian mountain hamlet started nicely enough this morning but took a turn for the wet before the top riders had their closed practice session with timed results. The forecast looks wet for the foreseeable future which means qualifying on Friday and racing on Saturday could be a complete roll of the dice. The steep wooded section where some riders came to a complete stop at World Championships on the same track in Leogang last year is, once again, full of sticky, peanut-buttery mud thanks to the precipitation.

Today's timed training conditions at the Leogang World Cup DH.

In 2020 at World Champs, Reece Wilson won with a 3:51 and Camille Balanche survived for gold with a 5:08. Today's times reflect similar conditions. Successfully navigating the last portion of the track is what made the difference in a top result today.

Times from today's session do not count toward any overall series points or official result. They are used to help riders and teams determine racing lines and bike setup for qualifying and race day.

The track was a little nicer yesterday during trackwalk
