RESULTS: Timed Training, Val di Sole World Cup DH

The steep, rough terrain of Val di Sole, Italy, was tackled by World Cup downhillers today with the first practice session and official timed training. During track inspection yesterday, it was clear that the historically brutal course has an even uglier side this year as soil and dirt has been washed away, leaving once-hidden rocks, roots and holes exposed from top to bottom. The nature of the track meant that many riders participated in the timed training session with extra caution, wanting to keep body and bike primed for race day.

Timed training at a UCI World Cup Downhill event is a special practice session available only to top riders based on current rankings. There are no points at stake for results and the practice session is not mandatory, therefore the data from the session is only a glimpse of what's to come on race day.
