World-class mountain bikers tackled the downhill course at the UCI World Cup in Cairns, Australia, for qualifying today. Nearly 100 Elite Men competed for 80 spots in Saturday's final race. Troy Brosnan was untouchable through all splits and took 1st place with a smoking 3:30.747. Surprisingly not surprising, Mick Hannah swooped in for 2nd place, just .322 seconds off Troy's time. It's been a long time coming for Mick and home-town support is working in his favor. The winner of the first World Cup DH in Lourdes, Aaron Gwin, rounded out 3rd just 1.2-seconds back. The Top 30 men were all within the same 10 seconds. Race day will be a nail-biter!

19 Elite Women took qualifying runs and all will make it to race day. Rachel Atherton put the hurt on the rest of her class with a 5.8-second win over 2nd place Manon Carpenter while Tracey Hannah finished in 3rd.

All 24 Junior men who completed runs are qualified for race day competition. Matt Walker took the fastest time in the Junior class, while Lourdes World Cup Junior winner, Finn Iles, had a big OTB in the rock section resulting in a last place in class.
