RESULTS: Qualifying from the Andorra World Cup DH 15

Some of the biggest gaps of the year paired with some of the smallest in qualifying at Andorra.

RESULTS: Qualifying from the Andorra World Cup DH

Qualifying has completed at the steep and fast World Cup Downhill in Andorra. Conditions were reported as dry and near perfect today. Winning times in each class proved convincing performances, but in the Elite Men's class there were razor-thin separations the rest of the way down the sheet.

Luca Shaw clocks his third qualifying win of the year. He qualified first in Fort William only to suffer a mechanical on race day and qualified first in Leogang, going down in his race run. Today Luca went 2.5 seconds faster than anyone else. The difference between 2nd-place finisher, Danny Hart, and 3rd-place Laurie Greenland was just .006 seconds after a 4-minute track! If our math is correct, at 15mph across the line, that's 1.5 inches. At 20mph across the line, that's 2.1 inches. Incredible! Brook MacDonald and Thomas Estaque showed upon on the same second at 4:13 in 4th and 5th respectively. Estaque is on a roll with his good friend and 3-time race winner, Amaury Pierron, who finished in 6th some 4.5 seconds off the winning pace. We're so used to seeing Amaury at the front that it looks strange to see him so far back in the list.

Rachel Atherton stomped on the ladies, back to form at 12 seconds up on Tracey Hannah and Tahnee Seagrave. Enduro World Series dominator, Cecile Ravanel, takes a Top 5 as she continues to dabble in DH.

A new face to the front of the pack, Henry Kerr, put down a solid run over his young competition in the Junior Men's category. Current #1, Thibaut Daprela was just 2.2 behind with the fastest two top splits while Kade ShrEdwards finished 3rd, 5 seconds off the fastest pace.

Vali Holl continues her domination in the Junior Women's class with a 23-second winning margin. #USDH young gun, Anna Newkirk remains consistent and focused pulling up with another second place some 10 seconds ahead of 3rd place Mille Johnset.
