RESULTS: Martin Maes and Cecile Ravanel Lead EWS Finale Day 1

Martin Maes has never won an Enduro World Series race in Elite, despite leading mid-race and finishing on the podium a few times. That may all be about to change as he has stomped the field into submission with a clean sweep of the 3 stages of day 1 here in Finale Ligure for the last race of the season. He hold an impressive 30 second lead over Richie Rude sitting in second, which is not enough to relax with 4 gruelling stages to get through tomorrow, but which is certainly a good cushion to have. And on the topic of Richie Rude, he only needs to finish in the 30s to secure the overall series win. In doing so, Richie would become the first ever repeat champion, so let's keep our fingers crossed for a good day tomorrow.

UPDATE: Jared Graves busted his ankle and is out of the race, but at least it's not as bad as we first thought when we saw this:

In the women's, Cecile Ravanel has already wrapped up the series overall, but that hasn't slowed her down one bit as she matched Maes with a clean sweep all of her own. We also take this opportunity to tip our hats to Anne-Caro Chausson who reportedly won't be taking the start tomorrow - stage 3 was her last ever EWS stage!
