Qualifying took place on the brand new track at the Andorra World Cup today, and once again the French men proved that they are very much still the dominant force of the sport at present. Loris Vergier and Amaury Pierron finished within 0.3 seconds of each other, with Loic Bruni a further 0.6 back - a strong performance given that he is still recovering from a broken collarbone sustained at the Fort William World Cup in May. Aaron Gwin continues to improve and will no doubt be stoked with 5th here today, with team mate Dak Norton slotting into 7th to make it a solid day for the Intense crew. Camille Balanche once again came out on top in qualifying, showing the kind of relentless reliability that has helped her build such an impressive track record over the past couple of years. Nina Hoffmann and Myriam Nicole will need to make up some ground as they currently sit a second and a half off the pace.
In the junior men's a familiar face landed in the top spot, with Jackson Goldstone securing yet another qualifying win - this time with a healthy 2.6 second margin. A similar story unfolded in the junior women's as Phoebe Gale stomped her authority on the field once again, winning by over 5 seconds.
Tune in tomorrow for the big show!
