RESULTS: Live Timing, Leogang World Cup Downhill

Anew, natural line down the top of the mountain combined early wet conditions made timed training during the World Cup Downhill in Leogang, Austria, a tricky affair. Riders in early morning practice dealt with the new, steep off-camber section with little more than wet grass for traction. As the day wore on, however, lines were bedding in, ruts developed and speed could be maintained as racers were dumped into the more-or-less "normal" remainder of the Leogang track.

Timed training is not mandatory and results do not count toward overall points or ranking. These results are purely for observation and analysis by riders and teams as they prepare for qualifying tomorrow and are a baseline for off-track speculation by us impatient internet lurkers.

Loic Bruni was the fastest in timed training. It seems his light-hearted approach to the race has him riding nice and loose...on his downhill bike. Stay tuned for Vital RAW, interviews and photos as the day progresses.
