RESULTS - Jesse Melamed and Morgane Charre Win EWS Finale Ligure 4

The final race of a strange season is in the books.

And so the 2020 EWS season has come to a close, after only three races were left on a schedule decimated by COVID-19. After the previous day's rain and hail the sun was back out to let the riders and organizers enjoy this final competitive day in the best of conditions. Jesse Melamed took three out of four stage wins on his way to a second race win for the season, finishing ahead of Florian Nicolai and Jack Moir who backed up his first EWS podium a week ago with the same result here (after winning the final stage, confirming that he is as much a threat in his new race discipline as he is in DH). In the women's race, Morgane Charre won the first two stages and then held off a spirited charge by Melanie Pugin to take her first ever EWS win, with Estelle Charles in third rounding out an all-French podium.

There were no overall titles awarded this year due to the health regulations and travel restrictions which made it impossible to put on a full series or give riders equal opportunity to take part, but the team overall championship was still up for grabs. Led by Morgane Charre and Ed Masters, Pivot Factory Racing took home the top honors.ย
