RESULTS - Jack Moir and Harriet Harnden Win EWS Loudenvielle #1 5

Jack and Harriet have done it again!

After nearly a month and a half of no racing, the EWS circus pulled into Loudenvielle in the French Pyrenees for rounds 5 and 6 of the 2021 season. The small ski resort served up 5 long stages of racing with over 3000 meters of cumulative descending for the first round of this double-header event. Heavy overnight rain saw the organizers make some changes before the start, dropping a stage and re-routing some other parts, still leaving the racers facing a tough challenge in the changing conditions. In the women's event, Noga Korem was on fire early on and had a good opportunity to secure her first race win here after 3 stages, but an incredible last stage by Harriet Harnden saw her put over 20 seconds into the race leader and claim another EWS race win - even more remarkable given Harriet's very busy race schedule, what with having just returned from Val di Sole where she raced both XCO and E-MTB XC at World Champs. Also note that Andreane Lanthier Nadeau did not line up a the start, after taking a hard hit to the head in practice she preferred to sit this round out.

In the men's event, we were treated to another Moir v Rude showdown, with the lanky Australian once again getting the better of the American. Youn Deniaud was challenging Jack for stage wins in the first half of the race, but he ultimately faded to 9th place at the end of the day. Also good to see Martin Maes making a return to the sharp end of the results after having participated in just one round so far in the series this year.

We now rerack the racers and get ready for round 6 - things kick off on Saturday with the Pro Stage followed by 5 stages on Sunday. Yeow!
