Jerome Clementz by Insta-Sven Martin

Jerome Clementz has won the 6th round of the Enduro World Series and wrapped up the series overall title with 1 round to spare.

The Enduro World Series pulled into Val d'Isere for the 6th stop of the 2013 season. The 2-day event which runs in parallel with the Enduro Des Nations (where riders represent their country as well as racing individually) once again looked to provide riders with a new challenge. High Alpine terrain with a lot of the racing taking place outside built trails means that anything could happen once the racing begins, and with the weather throwing the riders (and organizers!) a further challenge throughout the weekend, there was to be lots of drama.

Jerome Clementz consolidated his overall lead from day 1 by setting the fastest time on stage 1. Barel and Graves (+50 seconds at this point) were on the virtual podium at that time. Graves would then completely dominate the last and longest stage of the day, pulling back a whopping 44 seconds to overtake Barel for 2nd place and coming within seconds of grabbing the victory from Clementz as well. In the end, Clementz' consistency once again paid off as he took his third EWS win and the series overall with a round to spare - a worthy champion and a fairytale ending to the first EWS season for Mr. Enduro!

Of note: Justin Leov was clearly up to race speed here in Val d'Isere, without his day 1 puncture he would have fought for a podium spot here (2nd on the first stage of day 2, and 4th on the final stage). Martin Maes incredibly finishes in third place overall - what a performance from the junior!

In the women's, Tracy Moseley took back the lead she had lost to Anne-Caro Chausson on the final stage of the day, but a penalty was to bump her down into second place. All still to race for in round 7 in terms of the overall!

France won the Enduro des Nations team event - unsurprisingly as they were the hot favorites coming into the event.
