FINAL RESULTS - Richie Rude and Melanie Pugin Win EWS La Thuile #1

Another week, another venue - same tight racing! With all eyes on Jack Moir and Richie Rude, the pair lived up to expectations and delivered another super-close finish, trading stage wins with the advantage going to the American this time. Martin Maes showed that he hasn't lost a step by taking two races off to spend time with his newborn child, as he was right in the mix until a mishap on the last stage saw him drop out of contention for the win. He gets to try again on Sunday in race #2, and we wouldn't count him out at this point...

In the women's category, Isabeau Courdurier and Melanie Pugin battled it out all day long for the lead, only to see Isabeau have a problem on the last stage leaving the door open for Melanie to score another win. A surging Harriet Harnden came back strong to take the win on the last stage and move into second place overall, 3 seconds ahead of Andreane Lanthier Nadeau.

Note that the organizers moved the start times up to try and avoid the afternoon thunderstorms, a smart move that we wish the UCI would emulate for World Cup DH racing sometimes.
