FINAL RESULTS - Jack Moir and Melanie Pugin Win EWS Val di Fassa #2 2

Shark Attack Jack takes his first EWS win and the rest of the field has been put on notice.

With three-time champ Sam Hill putting in a less-than-stellar performance here in Val di Fassa, the rest of the field was probably looking forward to not having to deal with a super-fast and consistent Aussie for a bit. Short-lived joy however, as Jack Moir has stepped right up to let the world know that there's more where that came from! With just a few tenths of a second separating him from Richie Rude as they dropped into the last stage, Jack put it all on the line and pulled out a whopping 14 seconds to claim his maiden EWS victory. How sweet that must be, especially after coming so agonizingly close in race #1. Congrats also to Melanie Pugin who took home her second EWS title after winning two stages today.

Due to the inclement weather situation, the organizers decided to cut one stage from the day 2 menu, leaving "just" 3 to race. Note that the much-debated 2-minute climb of stage 3 was also neutralized today, allowing the riders to make their way up that one at their own pace. That did nothing to contain XC/Enduro dual threat Harriet Harnden however, as she put in an impressive performance overall to claim her first EWS podium. The mountain bike talent pool is deep! Healing vibes to Anita Gehrig who dislocated her elbow in a crash.

The riders now get to rest for a couple of weeks before they line up in the start gate again in La Thuile on July 8.
