FINAL RESULTS: Hill and Ravanel Victorious in Italy 2

Hill holds off a spirited charge from Maes while Cecile cruises to the win.

We know how quickly things can change when racing enduro, especially on tracks as brutal and unforgiving as those in La Thuile, Italy. Sam Hill may have won all the stages of day 1, but with just a 28-second lead, the final outcomes was far from a foregone conclusion. With more rain overnight, the organizers once again played around with the order of the stages and even reduced stage five down to a 30-second sprint into town, but it was still a struggle just keeping things upright for a number of the racers. Hill rode steady and applied all his racecraft to keep a charging Martin Maes at bay. Maes eventually ended up overtaking Eddie Masters, who still held on for his first EWS podium of 2018, doing enough to keep Hill honest but never in a position to strike the final blow. Incredibly, this means Sam Hill has now won 4 out of the 5 events so far this year!

In the women's it was business as usual for Cecile Ravanel. She only gave up one stage win on the 30-second stage five, winning all the others and clinching the race with a comfortable margin. This also means she has won all the rounds of 2018.
