Do you like to ride a bike, make photos, videos, roadtrips, competitions or to only be a part of this our sport? That's who we are. A group of longtime friends and mountain bikers above all. At the start we were just a few young village guys from South Bohemia (Czech Republic), who love to ride bikes and tried to capture their experiences on camera and after some years, we are still the same. We are introducing ourselves as The Mad Moss (don't try to find a meaning behind it), not as independent riders. We do not really care about who did this or who did that, we are a team, we are friends and at the end of the day we are like a family, somewhere on trip chilling around fireplace with beers, loud music and good mood.

You know, if you are the slowest, you will be behind the camera, that's how it works and I was the slowest. After some time I started to actually like this position a lot and learned some tricks and how to work post process and all things around the photos and videos. However, once you become a biker, you’re biker forever and that is the point where I want some photos of myself too and then, well, the others have to take it. Since those days all of us are behind or in front of the camera as and when needed. It's more comfortable and makes the work lot easier for all of us.

What do we have inside the camera bag right now? Two cameras (because most of the time we are two photographers), a Canon 5D Mark II and a Canon 550D. For lenses, a Canon EF 50mm f/1,8 II; Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM; Canon EF 70-200mm f/4,0 L IS USM and Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye. We also have a Canon Speedlite 430EX II with external Pixel King wireless flash trigger. Tripod and some spare batteries and memory cards of course.

We prefer natural light as much as possible, sometimes the weather gets bad out in the forest and you end up needing to use flash, especially with the 550D. We also like to mix the lenses and so the methods of shooting. Fast or slow shutter speeds. In this way and with this equipment you are able to shoot whatever and wherever you want, it's only about your imagination. We love to ride everything from street or dirt on our HT bikes to bikeparks or some big old school NWD freeride hits on our FS bikes, it's a refreshing combination!

This year we tried to put our riding little bit to the side to go across our country and participate in some competitions (IXS downhil Špičák, JBC 4X, Czech DH tour and locals events...). We brought our cameras and made photo galleries from the events. In most cases we stuck with close up photos from action. We published around 500 photos, via Facebook and some Czech websites. We did it in our free time on weekends after our daily jobs, we are freelancers and don't get anything back from it other than happiness. We do it to make our sport and community bigger and more known and as you can see from our FB page (www.facebook.com/madmossfilms) we also shoot everything around our lives, not only biking.

And what about next season? We will still be behind the bars and behind the cameras, that's for sure. We will try more different types of photography, styles and places, freeride shoots from our own trips and spots, because it is what we love to ride and love to watch, and produce more non-racing photos than this year. Of course, some events were really great and it was fun to be a part of it and to feel the racing atmosphere, so we will see. We have a lot of ideas and projects hidden inside our heads, not only around bikes and who knows what the future brings...
