Andes-Pacifico 2018 - Final Results and Report

After 75 kilometers of timed stages and 11,800 meters of descending, the crazy caravan has reached the Pacific!

Day 4 was a quieter day since the riders came from competing very demanding days, for that reason the last day the competitors would be faced again with a hard day and with the particularity that would be the day with more meters of ascent on the bike and with very little assisted link.

Day 5 began in Pullally, after the lunch break the riders went through the hills of Papudo. 3 specials stages for a total of 1517 meters of negative height difference.

The competitors left behind the camp of La Ligua as the caravan after five days of racing arrived in Cachagua to finish the race and celebrate the term with the traditional dip in the Pacific Ocean.

The winner of the day was Pedro Burns, followed by Mark Scott and Jesse Melamed. With the result of the day the champion of the 2017 edition is Jesse Melamed, who in his debut manages to take the title. Pedro Burns, thanks to the victory of the day is affirmed and finishes the race in the second position of the general table. While Mark Scott despite attacking with all the last day was not enough to beat Pedro and ends in third position. With this he achieves his second podium in Andes Pacífico.

The fourth place of the general is for Milciades Jaque and in fifth place the Spanish Iago Garay.

In women, Florencia Espiñeira was unbeatable! She won every day and manages to be within the fastest 20 of the race. Once again she manages to win the category but in this edition he achieves his best performance in the general table and we hope to see her at the end of March on the EWS podium to be held in Santiago. The second place of the day and the overall  was for the current world champion, under 21, Martha Gill. The third of the day and the general is for Jaime Hill, who had to fight all week with the mechanical problems she suffered.

In men Masters, Jeff Beeston takes the day again. The second place of the day is for Tim Prebble and third Craig Tolson. On the overall, Jeff takes the win, with a very solid performance and is positioned within the fastest 20 of the general table. Followed by Alex Gardner and in third position the Mexican Rodrigo Ruanova.

In amateur men, the first place of the day was for Cristóbal Ramirez, followed by Juan Hagn and Cristian Concha in third. The overall, was led by national pilots. The win belonged to  Cristóbal Ramirez, followed by Juan Hagn and Benjamin Gonzalez.
