Can’t believe we’re going to see Hill, Rat, Vermette, Jackson, and Dunne all race the same track on the same day. Some of the most exciting racers of all time, at the same time. 💪🏻🏁👌🏻

Troy too. Just a few frenchies and gwin short of the full not retired roster. Maybe next year!
Really shows how much Dh has progressed over the decade hardline has existed. Went from a small field of guys many of which were just sending it and praying on much smaller features to a whole field of top riders including women able to show up and throw down. Really hope the series is able to keep gaining momentum.
They give these riders way too much time to practice the features and course. It takes away the gnar element from it. Them all coaching eachother up for day after day just levels the playing field so much and doesn't bring the gnar riders to the top. It's like this with modern XCO racing. They give the riders multiple days, with their coaches to practice the 5 hard sections on the course. Then come race day, there is very little separation between the best bike handlers/most ballsy and the weaker ones.
If riders had two 4-hour practice sessions, you'd have wildly different runs between people and some might not race. But after all the training and sessioning over and over. The course is no longer burly or hard for 99% of them.

Interesting take. I don't think you would get nearly as many takers if that was the case. Honestly, I think this format is great. Also, I know everyone wants this to turn into a direct competitor to world cups. While that would be cool, I actually really love watching the camaraderie that is on display at the hardline events. Still, i'd love this to become a series and more wc guys to rock up to the event. But it feels like its in a good place right now.

I agree. From my couch, Hardline doesn't look dangerous enough. I recommend more spinning blades and machine guns like "Death Race."
Apparently Hardline is not even that hard, Asa doesn't even need hands to ride it:
I hope they have a speed gun for that section. If I remember correctly the drones could barely keep up there last year and it seems much faster. Also, I said it last year, I'll say it again. WHAT A FUCKING COOL SECTION. Those huge ferns look prehistoric. Must be so fun to fly down that part. And this is all coming from someone who lives in the PNW where ferns are a dime a dozen.
And just to get the perspective straight, I've got a HARDCORE COUCH!
Does your couch have a 61° headrest angle and 300 psi in the cushions? I don't think so. Us real hardcore couchers need to replace our bottom blankets and headrest bearings every week because we lounge too hard. And I don't trust no carpet fiber. Only aluminum can frames.

You've never seen this course in person.
You also haven't seen the footage of Dave landing in the creek and spending the next 3 months in hospital down in Hobart before he can be flown home (I have).
The idea that we should give less practice time so its harder is psychotic. One wrong line and its goodnight, season over.
The team were quite close to getting some of the frenchies down this year, some accepted initially but then declined after, were not going to get them down here by making it even more dangerous for no reason. The spectacle will be better with more people riding, not less.

Got to say, this is a crazy take. with features this size it is absolutely essential to have plenty of time to practice and for most people it’ll take a tow in to get it right. IMO the more clean runs the better for the event and I enjoy watching the riders link things together rather than crashing or stopping halfway through. Tight racing on a track like this is the pinnacle of the sport.

These guys do some crazy gaps on WC races (Mont St Anne for one) that they get creative and try. On this course those "crazy gaps" are not an advantage they are trying to find or hoping that others will not even try it, they all have to do it at this race. Too much practice?? LOL

Seeing your favorite rider(s) riding with each other ,being stoked and high fiving totally sucks. There should be no talking on course and working together is obviously for losers
Moi Moi. Waaauueerrgggghh! Booker's log ride was insane.

So SICK!!!
Maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention, but I didn't notice Erice van Leuven or Gracey Hemstreet in any of those vlogs, are they racing?

Gracey is there. Vaea V was posting on IG about giving Gracey props for hitting everything last year and showing lines during track walk .
Official first hits edit from Red Bull!
Yes, Erice is also there, I should've specified I was talking about the riding vlogs, I don't remember seeing any riders in Norco kit.

I kind of see what you’re saying, but counterpoint: changing conditions and weather and also not dying seem like good goals for a race.
Is there an MTB version of Swampfest though? That would be rad too.
Erice posted she had a crash in Queenstown last week and is a bit banged up. She’s at hardline but was at the local hospital getting a check up.

The little nolly is psychotic in that section

Don't google that.
