well it was my best result yet, despite feeling like i was screwed. finally cracked 1k points and top 100 finish. goes to show how much of a crapshoot that round was. fuckin love this sport
Damn looking at the top teams and ideal best team, looks like on rainy races you should just buy all the cheap guys and not risk any budget on riders over 100k!
One suggestion for next year, is keep the same fantasy structure, just make wildcards more expensive to incite us to "bet" a little more on podium contenders and winners, rather than "diversifying our bonds" on the outliers. E.g. if Loic is around 200k make a regular finals qualifier around 150 (e.g. Minaar and Estaque) complete outliers have a lowest price of ~50k.
i guess im dumb for not putting asa on when it was rumored juniors was cancelled. I didn't even realize he was over 1:1 again. I thought his price was still basically above his points payout, making him below point per 1k. welp. nbd not where the whole thing was won or lost. anybody who picked eleonora is a BEAST in the fantasy game. i dunno how you predict that one. legends
Ellie was a good buy this round, and she was on fire. Great race and exciting finish. Really happy to see Thirion and Estaque up on the podium as well, two very skillful riders who deserve the credit they got.
fantasy results have been compiled and are processing, they should show up shortly. we went with how the UCI scored it, which is juniors earning points...

same structure as if it was finals (1st place 60 etc, top 25 Jr Men and top 10 Jr. Women).
here are the standings PDFs that show junior results and scores since they didn't have an actual finals results sheet.
whoa cant believe were waiting over a month between races. im assuming world champs is gonna be on the fantasy schedule as well yeah? MSA in October is a CRAZY TAKE lol... when do they usually run MSA?

It was October last year and I believe it was usually August before that...
According to the official rules page: "2024 World Championships Fantasy game will feature a double points structure based on World Cup results points. These double points will be added toward the season total for the overall competition."
Will there be any changes to the format of the for this round?
Am thinking particularly about how junior finals will be before senior qualis and therefore when team building will finish. But also the riders I doom to finish below 30th, will they get no points?
we're looking at schedule etc and will time everything accordingly. every fantasy player will play the same game. it may not roll exactly like a world cup, but it'll be fair for everyone. stay tuned.
Question on scoring for this round: In the previous rounds if there were 31 riders in elite mens I believe both the 30th and 31st rider would get points for 30th (please correct me if I am wrong). I think words will have many more riders who qualify through to finals like an old world cup. Will riders who score 31-60 (or how ever many qualify through) all get points for 30th or will they get nothing?

good question. protected rider status is the reason there may be a 31st place in elite men's at world cup, so they award points. since there is no protected status at world champs, points will only be awarded for top 30 for elite men, top 10 for elite women, top 25 for jr men and top 10 for jr women as normal.

Qualifying for worlds is essentially seeding as everyone there makes it to the final. You had to make your countries criteria for making the team so unlike world cups there aren’t any “privateers”

have they narrowed down the field for finals in the recent past? in the bigger classes anyways?

The rules state top 80 qualifiers for elite men and 40 for women. I remember a few instances in the past where there were just a few more entered than there were places in the final, they opted to let everyone race finals, but seems like there are too many to do that now.

For all DHI events (Men Elite, Women Elite, Men Junior and Women Junior), riders are required to ride in the qualifying round. The number of riders qualifying for the final are as follows:
Men Elite: top 80 riders in the qualifying round Women Elite: top 40 riders in the qualifying round Men Junior: top 60 riders in the qualifying round Women Junior: top 20 riders in the qualifying round
For the final in the Men Elite and Women Elite, the “protected riders” are:
Riders ranked in the top 10 Women Elite and the top 20 Men Elite of the final world cup standings of the current season.
In case the UCI world cup final is held after the UCI world championships, riders ranked in the top 10 Women Elite and the 20 Men Elite of the latest world cup standings of the current season.
Even “protected riders” must start in the qualifying round in order to be entitled to ride the final.
damn this aint good, rider prices got doubled so my pick 2 million riders on one team strategy isn't gonna work, gonna lose places for sure on this one 😂 RIP my hard work
Some interesting picks this round after the qualies.
That said, any word on the rider who was I think airlifted away and almost certainly not racing? Hoping to clarify for fantasy players that one of their picks could be DNS now.

Nice.
my fantasy fire fizzled a couple rounds ago. carry on.

Is world champs included in the Vital Fantasy?
According to the official rules page: "2024 World Championships Fantasy game will feature a double points structure based on World Cup results points. These double points will be added toward the season total for the overall competition."
they are not, you can relax, grab a beer and just watch racing
Oh uh, yeah actually I'm pretty sure spomer told me anyone currently in 1st through 7th place gets a bye this round and doesn't need to participate...
LOL, as noted above, worlds included and double points - https://www.vitalmtb.com/fantasy
I may return for the chance to lose double points…
Whos World Championship do i want to ruin🤔😂

@ Spomer
Question, if we dont use all our junior budget, will the remaining unused funds be available for the Elite race?
nope.
Alright picks are in let the die be cast!
