Pretty crazy that someone who has raced for 15 plus years might want a change of scenery...... Not surprising he is on Santacruz as pon is handing out hot deals on them like they are going out of fashion.

I was kinda shocked how many I saw in the Sea to Sky area last summer. It seemed like it was either Transitions or Forbiddens. I know they had some oddness with their supply chain last summer that kinda kneecapped their Dreadnought release, but I don't think they are nearly as dire of position as some other companies.
Their race team funding always felt a bit ambitious though, so I am not surprised that might have taken a hit over the year. Maybe it's just their race division.
Kinda makes you wonder if supporting a WC DH team is really beneficial to some of these companies...
But still Fox suspension. That seems rare - are their other teams mixing shimano and SRAM products?
I think there are some riders on the YT mob that do, or at least running fox suspension and sram drivetrains, but that's just how they run their program.

Is it me or did Yeti marketing really miss the mark? Getting Cami is a big deal plus having a full factory DH team again and them having put nothing out!
Possible that yeti are/were unsure if they would be in the top 15 or have a wild card and as such are waiting to find out before announcing the launch of a DH team?
Alex Storr is still on Forbidden for '25. I asked him when I saw him the other day.
So Forbidden Synthesis is now Dunbar Racing Team, with Fearon / Lan / Manson / Mozell / Poulson / Storr / Verner / Wilson. Verner is listed as EDR, everyone else is DH, but if the UCI doesn't list multiple disciplines, who knows how things will fall out.
EDIT: Looks like Lan and Storr are riding Forbidden frames, not sure about the rest.

Is it me or did Yeti marketing really miss the mark? Getting Cami is a big deal plus having a full factory DH team again and them having put nothing out!
As I said previously. Yeti marketing team is off the back and unable to get a team to her, with the most recent version of the bike for filming, filming, editing, etc. before launch. So they got busted out by UCI website announcing. Also, I'm going to guess their marketing budget is not going to be big this year, considering they're paying Cami's sizeable salary (especially for a small brand like Yeti) and paying for Rude to do DH, etc. Lastly, Yeti is not built out marketing team-wise like other brands. Think about it... How many times have you seen a shreddit FROM Yeti in the past couple years? 0? They are not equipped to do stuff like what Norco did for their launch of the DH team this year.
Muc Off Commencal was on Fox squish and Sram drivetrain and brakes last season
Yes, Mondraker likely on the same type of deal as Muc Off was last year.... Season 1: Start with brakes and drivetrain. Season 2: Include Rockshox
Switching brakes + suspension in one off-season is a huge ask for a rider now adays with how competitive racing is. It can be done, but I'm sure teams are very hesitant. Small teams take what they can get and adapt, but we're talking about 2 of the top teams in the paddock. They can push back more on sponsors and say, "OK, we'll switch the SRAM/Rockshox, but need to phase it in over 2 seasons".
I think it also depends on when the deal gets done. If the deal is signed in August, and they can get the riders on the new equipment the day after the last world cup in October, they can likely be 100% adapated and ready to race in spring. But the way these deals work, it might not have been signed until December. Then it's winter, and hard for norther hemisphere riders to get lot of training time in, etc. So there would be more pushback for switching EVERYTHING in a few months.
The number of teams peaked in 2023 with a total of 184 (128 standard, 56 elite). 2024 saw the second highest number of teams on record with 163 (112 standard, 51 elite). The bike bubble bursting was already beginning to have an effect going into the 2024 season, even with the upcoming Olympic games.
The growth in teams from 2021 (119 teams) to 2023 (184 teams) likely drove UCI/WBD to start thinking about major changes to the series. Had that growth continued, the events would be impossible to run. Too many teams that need pit space, too many riders on track, etc. The growth in elite teams from 2022 (30 elite teams) to 2023 (56 elite teams) was a likely indicator that team fees could be pushed much higher.
The home countries listed for teams has remained roughly consistent over the last 5-6 years, hovering between 27 and 29 countries.
The data gets more interesting when you look at the registered disciplines.
2017 was the high water mark for XC (97 teams) which then saw steady declines until 2021 (73 teams) when the trend began to reverse. 2024 brought XC back to 2016 levels with 90 teams, likely driven by the Olympics. It's surprising that 2017 did not see a reduction in XC teams after the 2016 Rio games. We most certainly will not see that same trend in 2025.
DH hit a low point in 2018 (34 teams) with growth peaking in 2023 with 59 teams.
2021 brought the introduction of XCM (marathon) followed by EDR and EDR-E in 2023. The UCI does not track EDR/EDR-E teams prior to 2023.
Only XC saw team growth in 2024 (again, likely because of the Olympics), with all other disciplines declining.
The UCI rider data is a little misleading as each rider can only be associated with one discipline, even if they actually race multiple. For some riders, that discipline isn't their primary one (for instance Ed Masters is listed as a DH rider rather than EDR).
Rider numbers grew dramatically from 2005 to a peak in 2012, after which the sport saw slow but steady declines until 2019. There were likely many factors driving this, one of which likely being a stagnant broadcast package from RedBull. Hard to make an accurate analysis without viewer numbers, but it's not really surprising the UCI was ready to go in a different direction.
Growth exploded from 2019 to 2023, with total UCI team riders peaking in 2023 with 871 riders across all disciplines.
Again, the growth from 2019 (506 riders) to 2023 (871 riders) likely forced UCI/WBD to make some dramatic changes that would reduce the number of participants.
The numbers also show that the reduced focus (both from a sponsorship and coverage perspective) on EDR was already having an impact in 2024. EDR riders dropped from 105 in 2023 to 80 in 2024.
With the announced team changes by UCI/WBD and the ongoing turmoil in the bike business, I suspect we're going to see significant further team and rider declines in 2025.
With the first pass of 2025 UCI team data released, let's take a look at how things are shaking out. It's rough out there kids.
As expected the number of teams in 2025 has come down dramatically - a roughly 38% decrease across all disciplines. The UCI has not yet released which teams are elite vs standard, so for now all teams are listed as standard.
The home countries listed for teams has dropped as well, down 18.5% with POR, FIN, GRE, AND, HUN and IRL no longer home to any teams.
Breaking out the teams by discipline, we can see significant declines in all formats with EDR and EDR-E seeing the most reductions.
Even though EDR-E is on pause, 2 teams (LAPIERRE GRAVITY COLLECTIVE, SPECIALIZED GRAVITY) still have it listed. Perhaps just a data issue in what is currently posted by the UCI.

UCI doesn’t allow the same person to be team owner and team manager? So I think he’s said he’s only “cough” the owner.

Still no announcement from yeti bikes about their DH team, pretty poor marketing from them……
is it though? it's looking like they're gonna be a wild card team (nttawwt), maybe they didn't want their announcement to get lost in all the other noise? and now hardline? we're still here talking about it...

The UCI doesnt allow the same person to be team manager and rider at the same time.
a) That's not the new Orbea DH bike. That's just a Rallon with a dual crown. Photos from the orbeafmdracing 'gram show riders eying up a bike with a very differently shaped top tube and head tube, as well as internal cable routing that enters the frame closer to the head tube (probably better suited to use w/ a dual crown).
b) That kind of discussion would be probably better for the Tech Rumors thread.

It only lists a single discipline per rider, even if they compete in multiple.
Not sure how the UCI decides which to list.
For instance Eddie Masters was listed as DH last year, EDR this year.

Glad to see Grandad has been picked up. Still disappointed that he’s not at Hardline though. Not front of the pack but good value nonetheless.
BK isn’t listed as manager of Pivot Factory on the UCI website?
For anyoone who follows garvel or XC..looks like Keagen Swenson got picked up by Velocio..
Velocio - Cycling Apparel
UCI doesn’t allow the same person to be team owner and team manager?
So I think he’s said he’s only “cough” the owner.
Still no announcement from yeti bikes about their DH team, pretty poor marketing from them……
Richie Rude - DH, that's the main thing 😁

BK being the owner and having someone help with team management duties so he can focus on riding abit more has got to be helpful on race weekends..
is it though? it's looking like they're gonna be a wild card team (nttawwt), maybe they didn't want their announcement to get lost in all the other noise? and now hardline? we're still here talking about it...
Not just Keegan, it's the whole htSQD
Keegan's also now on Hammerhead instead of Garmin (I think it's just him) and Tobin is taking on some management duties for the team.
The Sram machine just won't be stopped
kaos riding his new orbea steed at hardline-
The UCI doesnt allow the same person to be team manager and rider at the same time.
a) That's not the new Orbea DH bike.
