I cased hard on some stairs today and dinged the crap out of my rear rim. Tubeless set up with no leaking so far.... but looking for tips on how/if it’s fixable. Suggestions?

I'd say use a punch and a hammer. Pad the rim with leather or something similar and drive it back straightish. It may not be pretty, but at least it will be work hardened in that spot.

remove your tire and straighten the wall of the rim with an adjustable (crescent) wrench.

OR if it's not leaking- just leave it alone.

...don't forget the JB weld on the outside of the rim once done... Wink

(that was a joke, and a throwback to a time when certain dirtbag juniors would wander the pits in pursuit of Mavic 521 rims that were crunched by WC pros...only to live another day with ample amounts of JB weld and crescent wrench time...)

I suggested a large punch and hammer to help prevent the damage to the finish that the wrench will cause.

Just run it until that tire is roasted. She's fine! Bending back may crack the rim and lead to a leak in my experience. Then again, you may not be able to get a good initial seal when it's time for a new tire.

I walked my talk today. Had a dinged rim in the shop with a tire and Cush Core installed. I could have just taken one bead off and cranked on it with a wrench and put a nice, new, highly visible scratch in the rim. But I didn't want to be a forum liar so I removed everything, propped it up on the anvil of the vice and used a punch and hammer to drive it back straight. Worked a treat.

I use appropriate sized crescent and a piece of flat steel to back the rim up from the outside, gather everything up in crescent wrench and start bending.

Like other people have been saying, if its not leaking then leave it be. If anything, trying to bend it back might make it worse. With a big impact like that im assuming the rim has a flat spot also. Might be a good idea to look into a new rim soon.
