Back in high school physics, I asked my teacher why a bike will stay upright and he said it had to do with trail and the leading front axle. I called BS on that and put a bent ass rigid fork on backwards on a bike so that it had negative-trail and shoved it across a parking lot and it worked just fine. You see crappy department store bikes built with reverse-rake all the time because the stoners building them don't know to turn the fork around out of the box...

Anyways, I brought in the experiment and said "wtf bro, trail has nothing to do with it?" and he just said "Yeah, I know. All of science seems to know it but no one in over a hundred years of bicycle design has been able to fully explain why a bike will stay upright."

We both just sort of shrugged and walked away from the whole thing.

I totally see you saying "wtf bro?" to your teacher. Haha.

Surprising how no one has figured this out...

Well you know scientists be all huntin dat higgs-boson and shit instead of getting down to brass tacks and figuring out how a bike rides itself...
