Front derailer...I know...

Newb mechanic here and been riding XC for about 7 years now. LOVE IT! Anyway, I have a Stumpjumper and a 2 ring crankset, but I only use one ring. Can't upgrade to a single ring setup until the fall, so I'm wondering if I could just take off the front derailer all together and be able to still pedal? I never use it and lately, it's rubbing against my chain...I use the small ring only, so it seems pointless to have a front derailer. Thanks in advance!

You can take it off, but it does provide *some* chain security by acting like a guide. Until you're able to make the move to a dedicated 1X setup, I suggest taking your front shifter/housing off and using the front derailleur limit screws to find a spot that doesn't rub.

Thank you for the insight!!! I was this close to pulling it off today. Can you describe to me where/what/how those deraileur limit screws are?
