By several accounts, Jack had signed on with a DH team but that team then pulled out. If that is true, that would say to me he still wanted to be all-in with DH. He needs to have a paycheck and expenses covered for racing, so by the time that happened, his DH options were likely limited. If he is disillusioned with anything, perhaps it is related to companies fulfilling their commitments.
Maybe there’s not as much money available for marketing in this little expensive sport that has to bring out new models every 4 years...
No disrespect but Spesh need to decide what exactly they wanna do. Sell bikes or win races? They won’t be doing the latter on the big stage this year that’s for sure. Great for Kelly but for the big S? Not sure
mmm I'm not so sure, that is a stacked squad of men. Sam was the only one to have beaten Nino during his domination pre MVDP, and the others have all been u23 killers.

Weird, that link goes to the 2019 roster. Sam's gone for 2020 (racing road w/ MvDP) and I am clearly not up on the U23 XC scene!
Kelly is a second rate enduro rider like Buchanan. Why anyone cares what the likes of them are doing is beyond me.
Cody’s a bloody champ, a real genuine fella as I’m sure any of the other so called ‘second rate’ enduro riders are. You, on the other hand, come across as a total douche. No-one’s asking you to care about anyone who isn’t whatever you deem to be first rate but there’s no need to put them down.
Cody on Specialized isn't crazy... They can use him in the North American series where he'll get better results.. Plus, for video parts and helping with product development, he'll be great!
I think Dickscruttock approach is perhaps a little harsh but, he does has a point. Cody ain’t gonna win any races, nor does he really sell bikes like some other ‘free racers’ he’s an industry personality agreed, but outside that he hasn’t much reach. As has been said they obviously want to focus on DH with Loic and Finn. Fair play to Cody but I don’t see it lasting long. I’m also very surprised Spesh don’t put more into The Enduro race team, unless DH bikes are still selling more? It’s all about the money, money, money..

There is Jack's interview on The Other Site that keeps cranking ”articles” out of this thread.
My take between the lines:
- Gwin can screw a team's vibe up pretty bad 🤢
- Intense had the most fun team out there and they decided to kill it because of above primadonna; oh, and money 💩
- Cannondale's cock is much smaller than it used to be 🤫
- Jack is REALLY diplomatic about his ”choice” 🥺
- when you don't have much to choose from, you accept a change of discipline too 😔
- enduro is actually killing top-level downhill and we act it's not happening 💀
- they are ”letting” him ride downhill, a top pro, LETTING him! 🤭
- internet-based bike companies have shitloads of money already, but keep sending them yours, because they invest in your local scene a lot (sic) 🐷
- Jack doesn't seem like a happy pup and it's obvious why 😐
- enduro still isn't the cool thing to do, except for some of us dinosaurs; please stop pretending it is 🙄
There's also my redundant comment that I left in said comment section, but I feel it belongs here too:
I see everybody talking about bikes and components, and while at it forgetting that Jack helped develop the M29 (and had the best results while with his buds on the squad), but few talk about a team's chemistry, which is far more important in a sport such as DH, where having a strong mental game is key, especially with the narrow wining margins of these days. Is anyone surprised that a stuck-up personality like Gwin's and a laid back one like Moir's don't fit well together? I have seen the Intense boys in the flesh at Lenzerheide in 2018 and they were BY FAR the bunch who had the most fun; you can't fake that! So for a while we had this rare thing: a team that is all laughter AND brings in the results. I understand the reasons of change for Intense, but I do miss seeing people race in polka-dot gear and storming the podium. In a weird way this feels like an NBA team loaded with young talent which becomes good before everyone else plans to and then it needs to split up because young talent with good results is expensive and you can't keep it all together...
All in all I am a sad pup today, having read that interview, although I feel happy for Jack that he found a home and at least can keep racing.

He could be the nicest bloke in the World, but been nice doesn't win races. Do people remember racers for been nice or winning?. Outside of the States no one has heard of him, he is a no one.

Did you and Cody share an intimate moment, but he never called?
Didn't Cody Kelley win the EWS Trophy of Nations? I think that's winning a race... And the man is a champion on riding style. All those comments diminishing him just seem mediocre to me.

The man is a wizard on a bike. Companies could care less if an athlete actually wins a race as long as they have good results, and can make rad films featuring their bikes. Even just having a stylish pro on the team drastically increases bike sales because people want to ride a bike that allows them to ride like _____(insert pro’s name here).
Now let’s stop criticizing Cody for “not winning an EWS Race” He helped win trophy of nations, the fact is, keeping up with Richie is nearly impossible. He has also won a ton of national level races like the BME, CES, and other North American titles. He’s even got a stellar track record on the dual slalom scene.
Enough with the ranting about if someone “deserves” a sponsorship. If they race at the top level of the sport, and risk their lives down trails most of us would not even think about walking down, then they deserve sponsorship, end of story.
And Cody has a picture or more in each race report because he is so stilysh. That also counts. I think Specialized did well. Also, them having a reputation of beeing rather uptight and uncool, it is good if they have some cool talent on the rooster.

Look at the times, Riche Rude totally pulled Kelly and Neer along time win that gold! Kelly got a gold medal because he was lucky to be with a superstar and another pretty decent rider.
Booms.
