With redbull sponsorship, what's the go? Are you a Redbull athlete for life?

They made a huge deal about Pastrana dropping his Red Bull helmet for a Nitro Circus one... So seems like yes, for the most part.

I think it depends on each deal and person, but most of the times they are signing people to have around for a long time. There are exceptions, though. Just look at what prodigy Kyle Strait was and how things went sour after he decided he wants to go back racing. I am glad to see this dude around the scene and still ripping it.

It's actually pretty simple: Kyle rose to fame as a freeride prodigy, but he always felt his roots were in racing. I actually saw him ride in person at the 2004 Worlds in Les Gets, where Flo Payet won, coming in third and besting my favorite, Ben Reid, by a mere 0.001 seconds. Kyle was heading to Meersburg, Germany for a freeride event called ”Ride to the Lake” (probably the first contest done by Rasoulution) and he had a freeride-heavy agenda. He was a Red Bull athlete and an up and coming young rider, an industry darling. At some point in the years that followed he decided to focus on his racing career, but I guess this didn't go well with Red Bull, as by 2009 he was dropped from Red Bull. I remember this well, as I saw him again at the 2009 World Cup in Andorra, the one on he old course, that Steve won and where Sam had that horrific crash that put him out of contention. From then on I feel he kinda faded away from being one of the most prominent riders to becoming somebody whom you would see every now and then and who would change sponsors much more often than before. I like Kyle a lot and it's good to see him at Rampage each year. Wish he had more success as a racer.

As far as I can remember this video covers his return to racing:

He may not be racing WC these days but he is a pretty regular name at Crankkworks and has had some good results recently. WC and Redbull aren't the only way to race mountain bikes and make a living off of it.

I totally agree, I am just saying Red Bull contracts are not quite forever and this isn't a Tanner Hall like situation.

Could be. Indeed he is Finn Isles's mechanic. But his shop could just be helping her out with mechanical assistance. Seems weird that specialized gravity would switch mechanics between their riders. Maybe it's just a tease, given the #teamrumors ashtag in the upper left corner.

Probably... it would be too explicit but there is something

Well one thing is a guarantee, a new rider will be joining Gwin and Neko on Intense and that rider has already been chosen.

if this is true canyon loves investing in racing. they have a lot of big names and big teams. when they signed troy brosnon it was for apparently one of the highest paying contracts at the time (my reference: the team rumors thread at the time haha). brosnon, wallace, a'hern, manson ... pauline ferrand prevot (2019 xco world champ) ... Mathieu Van der Poel (no need to list what he has won since it is just about everything he enters) ... so many others. very impressive.

As I mentioned a couple pages back, my hunch is it's Richie Rude.

I'm more interested in where Moir ends up. He was killing it when he was with Harrison and Lucas. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like this new team sucked the life out of him.

That is a great shout, it would be amazing. American super team.

Gwin confirmed a third "new" rider had been added when talking to him at the Path bike shop Intense demo this weekend...

Ya it would be great if he joined Scott with his boy but Giant is more likely.

I hope not, Simply because I want Yeti to get back into the DH game.

I am guessing adjusting to all the new components surrounding the bike didn't help him either (e.g., Kenda tires, new shock system, new rims and drivetrain, etc.). Heck, during the new team ride press stuff he was doing in January with Gwin and Neko, I believe he took a pretty good fall that knocked him out of full participation.

Ric, I agree with you bigtime. The alloy 29er was basically the same as what they have now but going from Sram to Fox is a big deal. For most of us we would not really notice, but the pro's can tell. It is an important part of their set up. Why do you think Gwinn never leaves from Fox but has pretty much changed everything else since his Yeti days.

I also think all the shoulder issues have really set Jack back. Too bad, I was hoping he would be in the mix this last year, maybe his new ride and some good luck will help him.

In the photo Moir just looks like his internal voice is like... "YEAAAAAaaaaaaaaa.....aaaa?"

Is there really any good reason for Yeti to sink a bunch of money into a DH program? If they want to waste that kind of cash, I'll simply send them my address... Send me a bunch of bikes and a paycheck and I'll guarantee almost zero return on investment..

Finally! I thought I was the only one that thought about this, the change from Rock Shox to Fox and viceversa is a big deal, and I think the average rider can feel the change, I can't even imagine what this guys go through when they switch. I remember Luca, Loris, Dean, Sam Blenkinsop struggled with this too.

I hope Jack lands on a team that fits him perfectly!
