I think that this is the first time I've asked a question here. Usually I just answer them, but I haven't worked in a bike shop since niners came around. I was lead to believe that a 650/27.5" wheel and tire will just fit in a standard 26" fork. But more recently people around here have been talking about needing a different fork to switch over. I'm guessing that the first 650's were meant for XC and as such were relatively small and would fit in a 26" fork. But now, as more people are using them for trail and downhill bikes and companies are making bigger 650 tires, a different fork is required? Will Gwin and the SC Intense team need to run that prototype inverted fork that Fox made if they really run 650? Will a meaty 650 tire fit in my Lyric? Educate me.

Good guess. A 650B specific fork is indeed needed for *most* high volume tires. It's really a matter of experimenting right now, but I've got a hankering that you'll see some 650B DH lowers in the near future...
