Voluntarily paid accounts?

I have been thinking about this for a while (seeing Big Bird's Addnauseum thread pushed me over the edge). Is there an option to make a (voluntarily!) paid account that would be ad free? And make it cheap, say pennies/1-2 dollar per month (if the financials check out, I'm guessing they should?)?

I'm running adblock (I know I know...), and given the rampant enforcing of paid content around the internet (does the paid tier become ad free on other sites or are ads served as well?), I don't want Vital to go the same route given the community we have. As weird as it sounds, I'd buy the voluntary, but forced to do it, I'd be turning up my nose.
