Thomson Makes the Jump to 35mm and Shows New Elite Dropper Post 2

Unparalleled precision machining with some updated sizes and functionality.

Like many other brands, Thomson has decided to make 35mm diameter bars and stems. They say the new designs are an evolution of a tried-and-true system. The stem comes in an ultra-short 32mm length, 40mm, and 50mm. The handlebars are 800mm wide with 10, 20 or 25mm rise and a 9x5-degree bend.

Thomson Elite Dropper Post

The Thomson Elite Dropper Post is designed to be less expensive than their current offering. This internally routed dropper features a refined actuator that is simpler and easier to service. Shops are now able to service the entire unit versus the need for Thomson to do it previously. The fact that the post no longer has a setback at the seat clamp makes it easier to manufacture, passing on some cost savings to riders. The first post to hit the market will be the internally routed 27.2mm diameter version, which is a rare diameter to see these days but will work for many XC and older bikes. It will be followed by 30.9mm and 31.6mm versions later in the year with travels ranging from 75mm to 150mm. Thomson is also working on a new remote that wasn’t available to photograph, but we know it can be run above or below the handlebar.
