The Inside Line Podcast - Kathy Sessler, Manager of the Santa Cruz Syndicate

I'm extremely honored to introduce today's guest of The Inside Line, Kathy Sessler. The first thing I want to say is that I feel like I was way off in our interview intro when I call her the "Den Mother" of the Santa Cruz Syndicate. While I meant that to be endearing, I realized, after our interview, that the term doesn't convey the complexity and responsibility that comes with being Syndicate team manager. My perceptions of what she does with arguably downhilling's most exciting team were completely changed after the interview. I hope the conversation we had gets you get stoked on Kathy's extremely deep history with bikes and racing, as well as with what she does for our sport today. Enjoy the show! -gordo

Kathy Sessler's 8mm film footage of the BMX races she put on in the early 1970's. She was 13 years old, had her brothers dig the tracks, she put up the tape, organized the races and then filmed it all. Incredible!

Great interview. We all abuse the term "legend" but I think Kathy deserves it.

Cannot believe that the old argument of "there's not the right girl for the team" pass that easy in the conversation.

I you take the time to look, you will find. Maybe she's not gonna be all ready for you because it's hard like hell to be on a world cup as a privater but she's there. Just take the example of Miranda Miller, long time on the podium, long time without any real sponsor. She had it harder than most men,

That being said, it is unfair to ask that question to the only women who run a worldcup team. We should put pressure on men equally to hire women racer.
