Mondraker Introduces the All-New 2018 Foxy Carbon

Mondraker's completely revised version of its flagship "THE BIKE" gains more travel and now offers two different carbon construction levels.

When Mondraker released the first Foxy Carbon in 2014, it ushered in a new era of carbon construction know-how for the Spanish manufacturer. Followed in quick succession by the World Cup Downhill winning Summum Carbon and a year later the Dune Carbon, the Foxy was indeed a turning point for the Alicante crew. Three years down the line, we're back to square one, with an all-new and up-to-date version of the Foxy Carbon to discover. Read on to find out how Mondraker have attempted to improve on its flagship "THE BIKE" product.

All-New Frame

Whilst the visual heritage remains obvious, the 2018 Foxy Carbon is new from the ground up. The frame has been given a more streamlined appearance, and is now for the first time available with two different levels of manufacturing techniques: Stealth Carbon for the majority of models, and the new Stealth Air Carbon for the Foxy RR SL. Different frame weights, different price points.

Zero Suspension System

Mondraker's floating shock suspension layout has been bumped to 150mm on the new Foxy Carbon while tweaked to retain its excellent pedaling characteristics. Mondraker also took the opportunity to keep up with the latest standards, moving to a trunnion mount metric shock in the process. New 15mm through-axle and bigger pivot bearings should bode well for longevity.

Forward Geometry

It wouldn't be a Mondraker without Forward Geometry. One of the first brands to push for longer top tubes and shorter stems, Mondraker stays true to this concept for the 2018 Foxy Carbon while now also bringing over the adjustable geometry features found on the Summum and Dune. +/-1 degrees on the head angle and a 10mm chainstay length adjustment should mean that you'll be able to tweak your new Foxy just to your liking. The adjustable geometry kit that includes the additional cups and dropouts is included as standard with the Foxy Carbon RR SL model and framekit, and as an option for the rest of Foxy Carbon 2018 models.

Carbon Stiffness Control (CSC) Technology

The rocker link on the 2018 Foxy Carbon features a 3-piece construction combined with a carbon central section that Mondraker claims allows for controlled flex and minimized vibrations all while saving a few grams. 8 bearings are used in the upper link: Four in the back (two on each side) joining the seatstays, and two in each frame and shock pivot point. The Foxy Carbon is the first model in the Mondraker range to feature this construction technique that according to Mondraker ensures the best performance together with the optimization of their Zero Suspension System.

Hidden Housing Guides, 1x Drivetrain Specific

The new frame features internal cable routing with "Hidden Housing Guides" to facilitate maintenance and keep things quiet. The 2018 Foxy Carbon is 1x drivetrain specific, which also means one less cable to worry about.

2018 Mondraker Foxy Carbon Geometry

Sold with either a 150mm or a 160mm fork, the new Foxy Carbon features a slacker head angle and a longer wheelbase than its predecessor. Even when you take into account the fact that it was designed to work with a short, 30mm stem, the reach remains resolutely on the longer side, with numbers that would not look out of place one whole size up for certain other brands.

2018 Mondraker Foxy Carbon Build Kits and Pricing

The new Foxy is available in four different versions ranging from EUR 4199 to EUR 8799. You can also get the RR SL with ENVE M60 HV wheels for EUR 10299, or a RR SL Frameset with a FOX DPX2 Factory Kashima shock, Enduro bearings, and the adjustable geo kit for EUR 3499.
