Kali Protectives Strike and Mission Knee & Elbow pads

High-tech materials and solid construction highlight two new pad offerings form Kali.

New for 2018, Kali Protectives is introducing a couple forms of armor intended to bring lighter weight protection to riders. We were intrigued by the look of the new Strike pad that uses Xelion padding material. Xelion is a carbon-based, elastomeric material that transfers energy and is claimed to be faster-reacting than other materials like it on the market. It’s functional over a broad range of temperatures and uses rubber as a carrier that combines with carbon particles and turns impact energy into heat to dissipate the blow. Xelion is exclusive to Kali and Dainese products. The sides of the Strike pad feature EVA padding and very soft fabrics are used throughout. Kali’s founder, Brad Waldron, is always on the search for new materials to push protection forward. These pads are just one more example of exactly that. At a cost of $85, the Kali Strike will be available in October.

On the more affordable and traditional side are the Mission knee and elbow pads. They use a phase-changing, flexible PU material and are CE rated. They are made with a mesh back, slip on over the feet and feature silicone grips far down to keep the pads in place. $45 will get you covered.
