June's Top Vital MTB Member Reviewer Award

Every month we award the Top User Reviewer with a little prize, and this month Jenson USA pitched in another $100 gift card! Vital member thinkbike took home top honors in June after writing several great reviews. Here's a recap of his best:

Finish Line Dry Lube - "This product goes on thicker than wax based products and does not fully evaporate - see photo below of both products after evaporation. This leaves a slightly goopy coating on the chain which attracts dirt. As dirt collects on the chain, you will need to clean it before re-applying. The good news is that this also leads to a more waterproof lube. This lube can withstand creek crossings and loamy sink holes better than wax products which get creaky quickly after a good dousing. In smaller words on the front of the label it also says, "bike chains: all riding conditions." So while I wouldn't call this product dry like the large words in the product name, I would agree that it is good for all riding conditions as stated and might work for dry conditions in most other climates." - Read more»

RockShox Reba/Pike/Boxxer Oil Seal Tool - "This handsome chunk of plastic is robust and precise. The dimensions are matched perfectly to standard sizes and the selection includes choices for 28mm, 30mm, 32mm, 35mm, and 40mm stanchions. It is constructed of solid plastic so it has weight. The extra heft leads to more confidence and less futzing around. Insert the seal in the end of the tool, align it with the opening, and give it a few gentle taps to seat it. Use the end of the tool that drives the force down on the outer edge of the seal as shown in the photo below.

You will pay less than $20 for this tool - or one like it from another manufacturer. Considering the value of a quality fork these days and I would say this is an extremely good investment. Buy one the next time you get new seals and share it with your riding buddies." - Read more»

Race Face Sniper Lock-On Grips - "The supplied end caps only cover the center hole and as a result the aluminum rings are exposed to dings and chips. I opted for a fuller coverage plug which happens to be old school ODI end plugs that I had in the tool box. Not sure if it makes a difference, but I orientated the arrows pointing inside when mounting them on the bars.

The diameter of this grip is similar to Ruffians, but there is more padding thanks to the ribbed mushroom fin pattern. The texture and diameter is spot on and I am very happy with their design. This grip strikes a nice goldilocks balance (not too thin, not too soft) and they are a pleasurable upgrade that is suitable for any style of riding. Four stars – I took one star off for those dainty end caps!" - Read more»
