Singletrack speed demons that leave money in your wallet.
Last year at Crankworx we showed you Ghost’s Asket, an affordable hardtail with aggressive, slack, long and low geometry (66.6-degree headangle and 430mm chainstays). New for 2018, Ghost is introducing the KatoX hardtails which use the same frame but bring the bikes down to a much lower price point.
The white model pictured is the KatoX 4.9 which slots in at just 999€. For the price, the build is pretty darn good including a Shimano SLX Shadow Plus rear derailleur, a Sunrace 1x11 cassette with 11-46t range, and SR Suntour Raidon 34 XC LO-R Air fork with 120mm travel.
Step up to 1499€ and you can get the red and black KatoX 6.9 with a SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain and DT Swiss wheel upgrade. Up front on the 6.9, you get SR Suntour’s Axon LO-R fork which gets 120mm of travel, has 34mm stanchions and their PCS damping system.
Hit up www.ghost-bikes.com for detailed information on the KatoX builds and dealer locator.

Holy cow, they aren't exaggerating with the long and slack. Look at how far the front wheel is from the cranks...
Shame that the complete package is a bit flawed. Always looking to find a good candidate to recommend to newcomers, that won't make them feel scared on the trail, yet is simple and reliable enough to own without needing in-depth mechanical know-how.
