@Matt Dogg, do you really feel like the slaughter rolls comparably to Minion SS or shwable RR? I have the stock wheels and tires on an enduro 29 (butcher/slaughter grids, on i29 rims) and honestly it feels like molasses, this is coming from 27.5 EXO ... more »

Good morning Bitumen83. I choose the Sight due to my riding style and the trails I ride on 85% of the time. I like a trail bike to feel lively under me. When you step up the travel to 6" plus, bikes start to fell sluggish on the trail unless you are pointing it downhill. Plus, I do race DH too and felt I didn't need...more

Transition Sentinel, Fully Custom Spec.

I think he meant SBG: "Speed Balanced Geometry", the marketing speak for reduced fork offset (43 instead of 51)

I'm very intrigued by the 29 Capra. My one question is about the actual seat tube angle of 67. With the seat tube being so short, I would think for taller riders, like myself, that its going to put you way out back over rear wheel. I loved my Yeti ASR7, but it had the same seat tube...more

Great question, this needs to be talked about more. We need reverse reach and stack for the seat angle, it used to be the same problem with "top tube length"- where are you measuring from?

For q factor. But with the between the heels width equal to q factor (~170mm), a good portion of riders would probably need 83mm to clear the chainstays anyway

I guess heel rub is a solved problem by limiting riders to US size 5 feet as shown in the image above.

Super Insightful and Full of Comedy- But, come on, isn't adjustable geometry making you feel that much more rad than whatever chum actually would ride in the high/steep position? And isn't relativism what being rad is really about? Also, in some parts of the country we periodically go on big rides over many many mountains (In for 2018), sometimes with chainsaws, and on these rides not hitting all of the rocks with your sick flat pedals (with a little extra seat angle to boot) is really nice. And I get to feel altruistic for helping you in turn be much more relatively rad. Adjustable geo: IN!

Jeff, good job resisting the kool-aid. I'm not saying that as a package, with a shorter stem and steeper sa, these bikes don't work as advertised, but strictly speaking reducing offset increases trail and means you have to turn the bars more at low speed. Early 29ers were indeed miserable to ride partly due to low offset, but they also didn't have 40mm stems and slack ha.

Most folks are on bigger wheels and heavier tires now, so it may be that having a bit more leverage on the front wheel and the weight more inline with the steering axis adds a feeling of quickness even though it's not rigidly true in terms of steering geometry, as long as you have a short enough stem that there's no tiller effect.

Bite point tip: remove wheel, pull lever halfway (distance to timing port varies by brake but this is a good starting point), reinstall wheel. Repeat or make full lever pull if necessary to get desired engagement.

A quick and dirty method that works on all brakes if you need that instant feel. May have to move the pistons or caliper to avoid pad rub. Reset the adjustment by spreading the pads. Just don't squeeze the lever so many times that the pistons pop out of the caliper
