I just don't like new bikes, no matter how expensive they get they look cheaper and cheaper to me. How long should this bike last? 3 years?

I don't have the same exp. My 2012 Domain outlived several if not all mine and friends forks for example. Companies seem to follow each other like sects. Frames getting thinner, electrics, cnc and many other "bad craftmanship" strategies just to boost performance. And we all know what that means. You only get 2/3. And the prices... I get it most people are not all rounders, they pick they poison and roll with it, but if I get a premium bike I'd have to abandon several other loves.

Btw carbon is plastic for me. I hate it. I will never buy another one.

There's no way you will ride this bike in 27. If you was to get a bike to love for years you wouldn't get this one. 

And honestly how many brands beside Nikolai are making such bikes? 

The lasting part wasn't about the parts breakin, but modern human phylosophy, style and originality. It's all about the hype.

I got this bike because it’s what I wanted. I plan on getting another new carbon bike next year. Why in the world would you talk like your 2012 domain is better than this. This bike is not just a bike, it is a piece of art. Everyone likes different things, but t his costs what it did because it is such high quality.

I have never said the old Domain was good, it just outlived several much more expensive forks in the last decade. You think that quality is hype, air and price and I think it's inovation, longevity and coils. Once you break a frame that costs as your yearly income in 2 months and some Pivot, Scott whoever won't replace it, you get fierce.

Cool. Ran into a guy using the Cane Creek Ti crank with the XX Transmission (before the GX came out...). I was wondering the long term compatibility on "non" T-Type Sram specific chainring...

 

No way SRAM purposely say that so you "have to" buy their whole kit 🙄

I think long term compatibility on non t-type chainrings will be just fine. When I do need a new chainring, t-type specific are out there now and I will probably get one but it works flawlessly the way it is. I actually called and talked to our 5dev rep and he confirmed to me before I got the chainring that they had a test rider using the 5dev chainring with the t-type and it was compatible. And yes way SRAM said they have to buy their entire kit. That was their entire sales pitch. The "transmission" was supposed to work as one fluid kit and they said not to buy anything else. Obviously they can't stop other companies from making compatible parts but they tried it all right. Thanks for the comments, I am loving the bike so far. I didn't quite want a SB140 for the local trails around me in Utah, but also an sb120 was too light. This build is a great in-between.
