With in that time. High end frames commonly retail for $3000. If they sell 7500 frames at $3000 each that is $22.5 million. Obviously there are lots of cost associated but they only need about $95 from each frame to pay that $700k back.

I just got some new XTR s and they have the brace. I either got an updated design or XTs with the XTR coating and logo.

XT levers with XTR caliper, what’s the thought behind this?

I have one. I like it. I haven’t rode anything new from RockShox or Fox. It was a large improvement from the DVO Diamond it replaced. Not as plush as the DVO Emerald I have on the DH bike, 20 mm less travel though. I do have trouble getting full travel, still playing around with settings on that.

If the corner is that tight it becomes more of a trails move. Dual crowns won’t limit your ability to corner unless you ride hiking style switch backs that are narrow.

Cool article, love how every variable was eliminated. I would also like to see a test where every variable wasn’t eliminated, let’s face it most consumers aren’t going to go to the levels you did to get the same product.

As someone that has a dual crown on my enduro bike I really like it. Much more confidence inspiring, especially as a heavier guy that rides stupid sometimes. The biggest question I get is people thinking it doesn’t turn sharp enough. This has been an issue once. I came into a sharp left hand corner on the far inside line, I had to jump off my bike. If I had been on a single crown I may not have had to jump off but would have come to a dead stop to correct my mistake. For me the pros far outweigh the cons.

As someone else that lives out side Seattle I would consider most of Tiger Mountain, Raging River/27, Tokul and other local spots “enduro” style riding. I think when you pedal up then descend down its enduro, I think of trail riding as a little mellower and more rolling terrain. But that could be just me.

The wannabes or the people like me that don’t have time or money to test all kinds of different set ups to see exactly what performs best but still want the best preforming bike they can have.

Added a comment about feature Shimano XT 12-Speed Long-Term Review 7/31/2020 4:30 PM

I’m pretty sure the previous owner never bled the brakes and just did lever bleeds to top it off. The lever got stuck down and I took it to the local shop and they recommend new brakes. They said fluid was so contaminated that it caused some internal damage. So I’m getting a new set. They told me Shimano has a rebuild kit but that they haven’t had good luck doing that. If anyone has other experience rebuilding Saint brakes I’m all ears.

I have 2 pairs of Saints, one has zero issues and the other, which came on a used and abused DH bike, have the wandering bite point. I’m a little hesitant to try the new XT stuff, I’ve heard XTR doesn’t have that issue. I’m replacing the second pair with new ones. The lever bleed keeps the lever feeling like you have brand new pads as the pads get worn down, highly recommend.

It’s really sad to see you getting down voted for stating facts. If you don’t believe what he said do some research and learn to think critically. It’s a tall order these days but it can be done if you take a few steps back and look at things subjectively and quit believing the propaganda that is being shouted.

I don’t currently have Fox suspension but I have in the past and I thought their set up guild for the shock was pretty good. They have the little graph that tells you rider weight and leverage ratio and puts you in a “zone” for the adjustments. How far off those baseline settings did you get?

Added a comment about product review Direct-to-Consumer Tires: Versus Mountain Bike Tires Long-Term Tested 6/14/2020 9:25 PM

With all the bitching about pricing I’d think this was pinkbike. Last time I bought tires I paid about $80 per tire. I got Maxxis DHR and Assegai in double down casing, not much of a deal from my local shop but I know the owner and I’m happy to put an extra few bucks in his pocket when I buy tires. I did how ever look online and I couldn’t find deals on the casing and compound I wanted. So I would say $65 is pretty good if they have what you want, in stock, no hassles, just put it in your cart and check out. When they get 27.5 tires I’ll check them out.

I think it wasn’t being thought about as much. Bikes were evolving in other ways. I remember Mondraker came out with their DH bike and it had longer reach and a 62 degree head angle. Most people thought it was over the top.

Added a comment about video Custom-Tuned Versus Stock Mountain Bike Suspension - Vital MTB Advanced Class 3/20/2020 4:24 PM

Good video. I think having dialed suspension and a bike that fits properly are the 2 biggest things in a bike riding well. For some reason a lot of people aren’t into the custom tuned suspension thing, never really understood that when people drop 4-10k on a bike but then won’t spend an extra $300-400 to get the suspension perfect. They will buy a product that they can put into their fork or shock, like the Runt, but won’t go for a full tune. The fit thing is a different conversation, drives me nuts when I see people running super wide bars with narrow shoulders. It’s ergonomics not rocket science.

It looked like some of those tech sections had multiple line choices. Not to mention that sprint toward the bottom could mix up the times.
