In summary of what I understand so far: -DH sales are down because modern Enduro bikes are so awesome. -Modern DH bikes are more capable at descending than modern Enduro bikes. -As bikes across the board have become better, more challenging trails have ... more »

How much faster do you think you would be on the Propain Spindrift (190/180) compare to the Propain Tyee (170/160)?

I agree 100% While I don't live near a lift park, and none of my local trails require a DH bike, but my favorite trails to ride are more fun on my DH bike than my enduro bike. I feel like the industry has done such a good job of selling enduro bikes ... more »

I stopped and rewatched this part of Angel's run and I was certain he would be DQ for it, given how many racers have been DQ for similar instances in the past (Mannon Carpenter and Connor Fearon came to my mind.)

There is, but many won't like it any better than the newly passed law. A tax on equipment purchases for mountain biking, hiking, camping, and horseback riding could provide funding directly from those who use the trail systems. Hunters and anglers are ... more »

Reply to Bentonville, Arkansas, Trademarks *Mountain Biking Capital of the World* 7/1/2020 2:47 PM

I've never considered Arkansas as a mountain bike destination, but rather as a Smallmouth Bass fishing one. Maybe the trails there have international appeal, but I'm not convinced. Maybe a the vitalmtb crew should go there and review the areas trails? ... more »

There is a saying that applies to most every part on a bike you can buy, "Cheap, Light or Strong, pick two." That said, I personally don't worry about getting the "high end" drivetrain stuff. As far as I can tell, you only lose weight when you go up ... more »

This is true. Just the other day I went to ride my bike with dual 650b wheels. As I reached for the bike it suddenly whipped me in the face, told me that it was "too old for this sh!*" then told me to get off the lawn. I went back inside feeling hurt, ... more »

Reply to Why are so many "MTBers" A*holes when new things happen? 11/10/2019 10:23 AM

A*hole mountain bikers certainly make the sport less enjoyable. And similarly to dirtyberd, I have somewhat distanced myself from the community. There are even times where I have considered selling all my bikes and gear. That said, I stay for three reasons. ... more »

From what I've seen, there are less women racing at the world cup level because there are less women racing at the local level. I participated in a race that was called the "Trail Bike Downhill." Think of it as a one stage enduro, before the EWS existed. ... more »

There is a funding solution to get more money to land managers with an increase in use. In the US, there is an "excise tax" paid by manufactures of certain kinds of hunting equipment and fishing tackle. It is a percentage of the sales price. The funds ... more »
