Added reply in a thread 2021 Mountain Bike Team Rumors 10/19/2020 8:15 PM

I made a forum to discuss DH bike annual sales. I would love to learn and discuss this topic more, but lets move it from the always entertaining Team Rumors https://www.vitalmtb.com/forums/The-Hub,2/Are-Global-DH-Bikes-Sales-Falling,11040

Started new thread Are Global DH Bikes Sales Falling? 10/19/2020 8:12 PM

Over on the 2021 Team Rumors forum there is talk about how bike companies are selling very few DH Bikes worldwide on an annual basis. I'm very interested in this topic, but feel it is best to keep it separate from Team Rumors. Someone mentions a company ... more »

Added reply in a thread UCI DH Rule Unclear - DSQ for Riding Over a Course-Marking Pole? 10/16/2020 2:56 PM

I stopped and rewatched this part of Angel's run and I was certain he would be DQ for it, given how many racers have been DQ for similar instances in the past (Mannon Carpenter and Connor Fearon came to my mind.)

@sspomer is going to be a thief again this year! Redbull TV's coverage of World Champs is geo blocked in the USA again!

Brandon, thanks for all the work you did here at vital that I have been able to benefit from. And best of luck with where you are going from here.

Also, I second the motion to keep DH bikes and related products a regular part of Vital's reviews and move that Vital be the place where riders who love big bikes are never ignored, all in favor?

I was already very close to the handlebar position for years, but it's very good the way he explains it and makes me measure something specific rather than just getting the shortest stem I could find.

Lee's Dialed book is a great, highly recommended.

How much influence did Lee Likes Bikes have on this set up? Did it impact your geometry and frame size choice or just the handlebar set up?

But how does the enduro bike ride if you don't reduce the dh fork's travel?

There is, but many won't like it any better than the newly passed law. A tax on equipment purchases for mountain biking, hiking, camping, and horseback riding could provide funding directly from those who use the trail systems. Hunters and anglers are ... more »

Added reply in a thread Bentonville, Arkansas, Trademarks *Mountain Biking Capital of the World* 7/1/2020 2:47 PM

I've never considered Arkansas as a mountain bike destination, but rather as a Smallmouth Bass fishing one. Maybe the trails there have international appeal, but I'm not convinced. Maybe a the vitalmtb crew should go there and review the areas trails? ... more »

Added reply in a thread is more expensive stuff worth it ? 4/12/2020 11:34 AM

There is a saying that applies to most every part on a bike you can buy, "Cheap, Light or Strong, pick two." That said, I personally don't worry about getting the "high end" drivetrain stuff. As far as I can tell, you only lose weight when you go up ... more »

I can't tell if this is a serious question, or a snarky comment pretending to be a question.

Or, based on Vitalmtb's Inside Line Podcast with Kathy, they didn't give Nina an offer for two reasons. One, Kathy feels that managing more than three racers will prevent her from doing her job as well as she wants to, and two, once you are on the Syndicate ... more »

I hope not. One, because I would rather see them finally get another DH bike, and two, because they already gave the world a new Wreckoning for model year 2019, the Wreckoning LB.

Constant model updates just make prices go up without enough gains in performance to keep the value of the previous version. It takes time to make profit on a new product and when you replace it too soon you have to increase the mark up on the replacement product to try and make it profitable, and make up for lost money on the previous version.

This is true. Just the other day I went to ride my bike with dual 650b wheels. As I reached for the bike it suddenly whipped me in the face, told me that it was "too old for this sh!*" then told me to get off the lawn. I went back inside feeling hurt, ... more »
