Wasn't Martin Whitley's athlete management company called 21 Degrees Racing or something like that? Maybe he is the owner of this Commencal 21 team. If so, will he still be involved with the YT Mob?

True. I was looking at the Specialized Gravity team's Facebook page before I posted, and none of the Bruni photos I saw had a good view of his google strap. Most had his arm covering them. All the pics with a clear view of a google strap were of Finn ... more »

Specialized was on Fox last year for eyewear and clothing. So either the team changed to match Vali, she is going somewhere besides specialized or staying put with a new frame sponsor.

Fox surely wants to promote both brands, but not as competing brands. Seems thier approach is to promote Fox for racing and Marzocchi for freeride.

Added reply in a thread 275 Downduro machine or slightly off balance mullet? 12/18/2020 3:07 PM

Well, if you worried about balance, and willing to fork out the money to get a new fork, why not just buy a coil shock that will give you the same travel as the air shock?

Added reply in a thread Knolly Suing Intense, Claiming Patent Infringement 12/15/2020 8:41 PM

As I understand it, the patent refers to the relation between the bottom bracket and where the axis of the seat tube meets the down tube, not the seat tube angle. See my illustration (red shows the angles and placing that is protected by the patent.

Added reply in a thread Does Reach = Hip to Shoulder Length? 12/13/2020 10:15 AM

Where on the shoulders? Is it on the ends or next to you neck? Are you shrugging to any degree, trying to just relax them, or push them toward the ground (I've also heard that motion referred to as "packing.") I don't think reach is a number to focus ... more »

Added reply in a thread Another geo thread - this time, related to stack height 12/7/2020 3:44 PM

I've read the book "Dialed" by Lee McCormack and have taken what he details there and his website https://www.llbmtb.com/ to compare bike geometry/set ups to find what bikes will fit me the best. At 6'0" (but with dimensions that make me fit bikes more like I'm 5'10",) ... more »

Added reply in a thread Are Global DH Bikes Sales Falling? 10/20/2020 8:31 PM

In summary of what I understand so far: -DH sales are down because modern Enduro bikes are so awesome. -Modern DH bikes are more capable at descending than modern Enduro bikes. -As bikes across the board have become better, more challenging trails have ... more »

Are bike parks getting rid of their rough trails to build new flow trails?

How much faster do you think you would be on the Propain Spindrift (190/180) compare to the Propain Tyee (170/160)?

Added reply in a thread Are Global DH Bikes Sales Falling? 10/19/2020 9:23 PM

I agree 100% While I don't live near a lift park, and none of my local trails require a DH bike, but my favorite trails to ride are more fun on my DH bike than my enduro bike. I feel like the industry has done such a good job of selling enduro bikes ... more »

I made a forum to discuss DH bike annual sales. I would love to learn and discuss this topic more, but lets move it from the always entertaining Team Rumors https://www.vitalmtb.com/forums/The-Hub,2/Are-Global-DH-Bikes-Sales-Falling,11040

Started new thread Are Global DH Bikes Sales Falling? 10/19/2020 8:12 PM

Over on the 2021 Team Rumors forum there is talk about how bike companies are selling very few DH Bikes worldwide on an annual basis. I'm very interested in this topic, but feel it is best to keep it separate from Team Rumors. Someone mentions a company ... more »

Added reply in a thread UCI DH Rule Unclear - DSQ for Riding Over a Course-Marking Pole? 10/16/2020 2:56 PM

I stopped and rewatched this part of Angel's run and I was certain he would be DQ for it, given how many racers have been DQ for similar instances in the past (Mannon Carpenter and Connor Fearon came to my mind.)

Brandon, thanks for all the work you did here at vital that I have been able to benefit from. And best of luck with where you are going from here.

Also, I second the motion to keep DH bikes and related products a regular part of Vital's reviews and move that Vital be the place where riders who love big bikes are never ignored, all in favor?

Liked a comment on the item Ultra-Long, 210mm Travel Enduro Machine - Is This the Ultimate MTB? 9/15/2020 1:19 PM

I was already very close to the handlebar position for years, but it's very good the way he explains it and makes me measure something specific rather than just getting the shortest stem I could find.

Lee's Dialed book is a great, highly recommended.
